Troy Rice

Troy was born at Methodist Hospital in Dallas. He moved to Irving with his family in 1936. He met his future wife, Mary Lou Roper, at the Dairy Queen (the first DQ in Irving) where she worked inside. They have one son, Lonnie, and three grandchildren. His primary career has been in construction and he retired in 1993.
Troy was raised on a farm on County Line Road. He attended Shady Grove Elementary and Irving High School. He says, "I walked that Rock Island Railroad track to Irving many, many times".
Troy was in the 4th Army, stationed at Ft. Bliss. He fought in the Korean War. He enjoys fishing, traveling, motorcycling, computing. He has visited California and all 48 states by motor home. He had one of the first bikes in Irving, in 1946 when he was in high school. He came to our computer fun group when he needed to learn how to turn on his computer. "Now", he says, "I'm addicted to it."
