Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I have become sounding brass or a clanging cymbal.Oh how appalling! Notice how disparaging Paul is toward loud noises like "sounding brass" and "clanging cymbal." Obviously he thinks he's better than people who like loud noises! You can tell he looks down on kids who drive around with their car stereos blasting away at deafening levels. They're not good enough for him. What an arrogant, stuck-up elitist!
Also, he mentions brass and percussion instruments, but discriminates against other kinds by excluding them from mention! What does he have against strings and woodwinds? Huh?
And though I have [the gift of] prophecy, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing.See how casually he speaks of "removing mountains." I'm sure if he had his way he'd allow strip-miners to come in and completely level our nation's beautiful treasure, the Rocky Mountains! Like most fundamentalist Christians he wants to devastate the environment!
And though I bestow all my goods to feed [the poor,] and though I give my body to be burned, but have not love, it profits me nothing. So Paul is against feeding the poor? Well, no surprise there. Don't all right-wing fundies hate poor people?
Also he's against cremation. He wants to waste our valuable land on cemetaries for dead people!
Love suffers long [and] is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up;"Love does not envy"? But envy is just desiring something. If your children are going hungry, you would desire to have food to feed them, wouldn't you? But no, Paul says desire is bad! He would rather have his children go hungry than desire to feed them! How sick is that?
does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil;"Thinks no evil." So now he's going after our thought life! If Paul was in charge, we'd have the Thought Police invading our homes, searching our papers and our computers to see if we wrote down any evil thoughts! Can you believe this fascist Nazi!
does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth;"The Truth." We all know how oppressive people are who believe they have The Truth! How many people has the idea of Truth killed? Apparently not enough for Paul!
bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things."Believes ALL things?" So Paul is saying we should live in brainless credulity, blindly following whatever con men and false prophets come along? Typical!
Love never fails. But whether [there are] prophecies, they will fail; whether [there are] tongues, they will cease; whether [there is] knowledge, it will vanish away.So knowledge is not important? Yeah, that's right--let's do all we can to keep people in ignorance. Let's be like Paul and hate science and learning!
And what's this about "tongues will cease"? I can't believe he's advocating cutting off people's tongues!
For we know in part and we prophesy in part. But when that which is perfect has come, then that which is in part will be done away.Oh, so all prophecy up until Paul is only "in part," because that which is perfect has not come yet? Well if the Old Testament prophets were not perfect, then how can he say that the Bible is the Word of God?? What a hypocritical fool!
When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child; but when I became a man, I put away childish things.Obviously he hates children. Think of how he must have abused his own children, if he had any!
For now we see in a mirror, dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part, but then I shall know just as I also am known."Then I shall know just as I also am known." Notice the egotistical use of the word "I." Paul claims that someday HE HIMSELF will have ALL knowledge--as opposed to the rest of us. But then, don't all Christian leaders like to set themselves up as the all-knowing shepherd tyrannically ruling over their groveling, sycophantic followers? Sure they do.
And now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these [is] love.So love is greater than faith? Then why is Christianity called "the Christian faith," and not "the Christian love?" What a bunch of morons Christians are!
So even though 1 Corinthians 13 pretends to be all about love, I have shown with my uncanny powers of interpretation that's it's really all about oppressing the poor, forcing people into ignorance, abusing children, cutting off people's tongues, and raping the environment!
Well, like I've always said, it takes a true Bible-Hater to really understand and interpret the Bible.
