Visit to a Synagogue
If possible, a visit to a synagogue would provide a wonderful experience for students studying Judaism.  You may wish to go as a class, or have students go as individuals or in small groups.  Below are some sample questions you may have students answer based on their experiences.  If different students visit different synagogues, it may be beneficial to have them share their reports with the class.
1. To which branch of Judaism did the synagogue you visited belong?

2. Describe the exterior and interior of the building.

3. Describe the service.

4. What language was used for the service?

5. How did people participate in the service?

6. Did men and women have different roles and/or places to sit?

7. What did you learn from your visit?

8. What one aspect of your experience visiting a synagogue made the greatest impression on you, and why?
