Your expedition starts on Crete, site of the Palace of Knossos, the labyrinth of
Greek mythology. You sail over the Mediterranean Sea to Alexandria, Egypt, once
home to the greatest library in the world. Up the Nile you travel, seeing one of
the world's most ancient civilizations. The Valley of the Kings and the pyramids
at Giza lay before you. Then past the cataracts which marked the end of the
Pharoah's domain and the end of the world that the ancient's knew.
Follow the
Nile past Khartoum to its source at Lake Victoria. Then explore the Great Rift
Valley, and go on aerial safari in the game preserves of Mozambique and
Zimbabwe. See Great Zimbabwe, a lost african city of mysterious circular stone
walls. Go down the Lualaba river to Stanley Falls. Follow the routes of Stanley
and Livingstone down the Congo River over the densest jungle in Africa.
Strike
out north to Lake Chad, then west along the Niger River to fabled Timbuktu. Then
sail across the Sahara Desert to Tunisia and the ruins of ancient Carthage. Fly
over Sicily and Malta on your trip back to Crete.
