Course Description: The U.S. History course at CGS is designed to present American History from a global perspective. The course covers the historical development of American ideas and institutions with a particular emphasis on 20th century foreign and domestic policy. This course emphasizes critical reading, effective writing skills, collaborative learning, independent research projects, and the use and interpretation of primary sources. Students will take the Standards of Learning U. S. History test and be eligible to take the AP U. S. History exam in May.

A.P. U.S. History Exam: The College Board Advanced Placement program offers high school students the opportunity to earn potential college credit by scoring well on exams offered each May. One of the goals of our course is to help prepare interested students for the Advanced Placement U.S. History Exam to be administered on May 12, 2000.
