Mr. Stanyard recieved a B.S. in Anthropology from Temple University, and an M.S. in Quaternary Studies with a Specialty in Archaeology from the University of Maine.
He is currently a Senior Archaeologist with TRC Garrow Associates, Inc., an environmental resources consulting firm with offices in Atlanta, Georgia; Chapel Hill, North Carolina; and Nashville, Tennessee. Mr. Stanyard is based out of the Atlanta office. He has been employed by TRC Garrow since 1991, and has supervised more than 75 archaeological projects throughout the eastern United States. These include 22 major investigations in Georgia, Maryland, Mississippi, North Carolina, and Tennessee.
His research interests include: social complexity in prehistoric hunter-gatherer societies of the Southeast; prehistoric political economy; social theory; and cultural resource management.
Mr. Stanyard's latest publication is a monograph entitled The Archaic Period of North Georgia. It will be published by the University of Georgia Press early in the year 2000 for the Historic Preservation Division of the Georgia Department of Natural Resources.
