Science State Goals:

* Describe how living things depend on one another for survival.
Theme: PLANTS
We will begin the school year learning about plants.  Here are a few facts about plants.

1.  They need 3 things to stay alive: rich soil, temperatures that are warm at least part of the year, & water.
2.  Plants come in many sizes.
3.  There are two major groups of plants.  The first group is made up of plants that have special parts called roots, stems, and leaves.  Examples of these would be garden flowers, oak and pine trees, bushes, and many more.  The second group of plants have no roots, stems or leaves.  Fungi and mushrooms are a part of this group.
4.  Plants use energy from the sun to make food.
5.  Plants give us many useful things like medicine, clothing, and lumber.
