Tour?

Yes, tour. Somewhat bored with sitting in an office all day compromising on how to do things (as there is never enough time) I decided to go 'walkabout'. I think, from speaking to other programmers, that everyone has to make compromises in their work so that projects come in on time and to budget, but I don't yet have the detachment from my work necessary to allow me to do this unthinkingly (maybe I will in the future and make myself into a good little office worker).

Where to?

Anyway, I'm out of all of that (what I do when I get back from wherever I end up I don't know) and I'm off to New Zealand which seems to be a semi-traditional destination for backpackers (I guess I should really be going to Australia, but there is no logical reason for choosing either). Several stop-over points have been suggested by friends for along the way, but I'm working on the principal that if I were to go somewhere for a week or so then it is little different from going there as a normal holiday, and as I don't have money to burn I shall leave them for a future date.

When?
