Stardust Christian Academy was established in the fall of 1998 when we brought our oldest, Mandy, home from public school. She had completed 3 years, and was almost a stranger to us. She was bored and restless, as she was far ahead of the other children due to home schooling after school and on the weekends. Our first year was a type of "re-bonding" and we enjoyed it immensely. Our family feels whole again.
We are Danny and Ann O'Neill from Hampton, VA. We were married on April 30, 1995, while Mandy was 5 years old, ready to enter kindergarten that following fall. Shortly after, we found out we were expecting a baby. Born 7 weeks prematurely, Christopher Matthew was born on November 27, 1995. Being quite a fighter, Christopher came home with us 3 weeks later with the aid of an Apnea Monitor. Today, Christopher is an outgoing, friendly 4 year old who will give anyone a smile or a hug in a flash. Our third child, Eric John, was born only 1 month prematurely on February 23, 1999. Though difficult and colicky early in his life, Eric is now a happy 1 year old with a beautiful smile that would warm the coldest of hearts!
We are currently home schooling only Mandy using the A Beka curriculum. We plan to continue home schooling through high school. We have found the internet to be a wonderful resource in our home school, and it is a great way to find support from fellow home schoolers. Hoping to aid in this, Stardust Christian Academy on the web is being developed to help educators find hard-to-find resources, such as the state outline maps and Canadian outine maps I've created and a forever-growing list of links to use.
As we journey though our lives together, we see blessings from God every day. Home schooling has allowed us to become a closer family, and for that we will be forever grateful to Him.
