October 25, 1999 - Monday
Well, the answer is, Nope, I didn't go to Niigata. I was going to, I had even dressed
up a bit, but I went to the bank to pay rent and it took a bit too long. I might
have made the train, but I would have been really pressed for time. I just decided
to go home instead. And, I'm glad that I did.
At first I went back to bed and slept for 3 more hours :-), then I got up and made
some more birthday cards with my stamps. Even if I say so myself, they are great.
Later tonight I also watched The Jackal
again. I really liked that movie. I know it isn't as good as the first one, but
the combo of Richard Gere, Bruce Willis, Sidney Poitier and Diane Venora just works
for me. I also get a big kick out of Bruce Willis trying to talk like a Canadian,
eh! My only quibble is with the ending. Although Richard Gere killed The Jackal and saved
the day, he was a convicted terrorist. Poitier letting him go at the end was a mistake
I think. If he had escaped, and then Poitier didn't sound the alarm for a while, I could understand, but for Poitier to say basically, "Run away," I think was a bit
too Hollywood.
I went out for supper, which was kind of a mistake because I ate way too much and
now feel a bit sick. Sigh. But I hadn't eaten for most of the day and I didn't
feel like cooking.
Also, when I came back from the restaurant I packaged up all the stuff that I've been
meaning to send to people and hadn't managed to do it before. If I have time before
work tomorrow I can mail it all off. Yay. I have 3 packages and a card and a letter. Wow!
At first I regretted not going to Niigata, but I accomplished much more by staying
home, plus I didn't spend a bunch of money that I don't really have. Yay!
Until the morrow.....
