Happy Halloween!
Today was cool. I stayed up really late last night, until 3:30. I decided to go
to Niigata, but took the 12 something train instead of the 10:30 one. I got up, showered
and biked off. I just
made the train.
The train ride was really nice, the train wasn't very crowded. Niigata was though!
There were people everywhere. At first I decided to look in a different part of
Niigata, and had some fun exploring the other exit from the station. Then, I decided
to get to business and hit the Virgin MegaStore. I bought till I dropped. No, I'm not
going to say what I bought, except for another David Essex greatest hits cd...it
has different songs than my other one, and a Japanese singer's cd...Domino by Masayoshi
Yamazaki (I've seen him on tv a couple of times, he's good) and another Canadian cd for
my collection, The Burton Cummings Collection. I'm really looking forward to playing
it, especially "I will Play a Rhapsody" and "Break It To Them Gently". I did check,
but they didn't have any Dean Martin cds that I don't already own. Sigh. I did resist
buying yet another Cliff Richard cd...Are you proud of me?
After lightening my wallet significantly I headed upstairs to the tea shop for a restorative.
I had Framboise Tart and Earl Grey Tea. It was heavenly. The tea I mean. I don't
often treat myself. I have tons of tea here, but I have a problem keeping milk in my fridge!
Then I did a lot of window shopping, a bit of stamp shopping (I was almost restrained
in the stamp store, well, for me anyway). I hit the bookstore, and found out just
as I was starting to enjoy my browse that the store was closing. I grabbed a magazine and the Lonely Planet's North-East Asia on a shoestring to read on the train on
the way home.
The train ride home was uneventful. In Tsuruoka I rented a video on the way home and
then called my sister. All in all, a pretty successful day...except, I didn't buy
any Christmas presents and only one small present for Taeko. I didn't get anything
for my niece yet. Sigh, sigh, sigh.
I've also just tonight finished reading "Bridget Jones's Diary".
I'm not sure if I liked it or not. I wasn't too impressed by Bridget. I thought
she was a bit of a silly cow. Parts were really funny, but also annoying. I know
I'm a diarist now, and people could see a bit of similiarity in our lives, but I
think my life is a bit more meaningful. But I don't get either the men chasing me, or the alcohol.
Personally, I wouldn't mind the men, I can do without the booze.
Anysquay, that was my day. No big deals, but I really enjoyed myself. I wish I'd
had more time in the bookstore though.
TRICK OR TREAT!
