My Quilting StoryIn 1985, after sending our last child off to college and saying good-bye to a herd of dairy cows, I found I needed something to occupy my time. I got my first taste of quilting when I took a quilting class where tracing around cardboard templates and cutting individual fabric pieces was taught. At that time I wasn't sure if this was for me. Two years later I learned about the rotary cutter, and I was off and cutting in the quilt world. I have completed 100's of projects for my family, as gifts, for church groups, raffle quilts for the historical society, a county quilt to celebrate Iowa's Sesquicentennial, as well as adding to my own collection. I guess you could say I'm addicted to quilting! One of the biggest pluses I have gained from this hobby is all the wonderful people I have met and close friends I have made over the years. Above all else, it sure helps to have patience and an understanding husband who appreciates my work and doesn't mind a late meal or a house that isn't always in perfect shape. If you have the slightest appetite for quilting and a sewing machine, I would encourage you to give quilting a try. It's a great pastime, but just remember you shouldn't get so wrapped up in striving for perfection that you forget to have fun. After all, finished is more important than perfect! Happy Stitching,
