Toastmasters International is a non-profit, adult education organization specialising in listening, speaking and leadership skills. The first Toastmasters club was started in 1924 in Santa Anna, California under the leadership of Dr. Ralph C. Smedley. From those humble beginnings it grew into an international network of more than 8000 clubs. Division A is part of District 74 and comprises of clubs in South Africa (Pretoria, Rustenburg, Olifantsrivier), Botswana, Malawi and Zimbabwe. There are currently 22 clubs in the division. A great aspect of Toastmasters is that every task gives the member the opportunity to have a rewarding experience. Like with most things in life, this experience will become more rewarding as the quality of the inputs increases. The theme for Division A in the 2002/2003 Toastmasters Year is: “Success Through Teamwork”. For more information on clubs in Pretoria, Rustenburg, Olifantsrivier and Botswana (1 and 2) you are welcome to contact our Division Governor. If you want to find out more about the clubs in Zimbabwe and Malawi (3 and 4), please contact the Area Governor for Area A4. |
