Foreseeing the Future

[ The following is based upon a reply, written a while ago, to a letter asking how I foresee the future of our human species. ]

Your question about how I see the future is a difficult question to answer in simple terms. I believe there are four possibilities, but before outlining these perhaps I should explain that our basic choices vis-a-vis the future lie between creating societies of true liberty, where we can express and develope our humanity, and creating societies which either maintain the present ignoble, inhuman, status quo, or which regress even further back toward real barbarism.

My own understanding is that true liberty requires a society based upon the ethics and the law of personal honour, where such things as prisons no longer exist, and where there are no taxes paid by individuals to any national authorities or government. What taxes as are necessary are local ones, funding local community ventures which benefit those local communities. Further, I understand all modern societies - without exception - as being basically ignoble and often tyrannical in nature because the law of such societies is an abstract law which does not allow for personal honour. In addition, such modern societies still have a punitive notion of punishment, still confine people in prisons, and require such things as Police forces which by their very nature are based upon the concept of bullying. Furthermore, these modern tyrannical societies depend upon national, government, taxes which by their impersonal nature are against the ideal of personal honour. Such national, government, taxes allow, encourage and maintain corrupt, dishonourable politicians and ignoble, abstract social and political schemes and policies which are tyrannical in nature.

In essence, I believe a truely free society must be based upon the ideals and laws of Folk Culture, which such a free society having abolished the ignore idea of national, and government, taxes.

1) The first possibility I foresee assumes that little changes: that we continue as we are now, being selfish, greedy, exploiting Nature, other life and other human beings, in pursuit of pleasure, comfort, wealth and so on. This also assumes that technological change continues for at least several more decades.

Gradually - perhaps in a few decades or fifty or more years - there will be a breakdown of the global-capitalist-consumer system with great social and political turmoil and upheavals, and wide-ranging starvation and disease, with millions upon millions of human beings dying because of these things. There will also be widespread regional and local conflicts and wars, with again millions upon millions of people dying in such conflicts.

One of the first signs of the beginning of such a global breakdown will occur in the United States, and this will be widespread social and political unrest in the cities of a kind that will make the Los Angeles and Cincinnati riots look minor.

The chaos following such a global breakdown will last a long time, probably a century or more, after which one group or nation or people will emerge to establish a new Empire, founded on military conquest. This new Empire may well give rise to a new civilization which gradually extends its frontiers - and thus its order - through conquest and trade. Some of the achievements of our own, and past, civilizations, may well have survived and may well be valued by this new civilization, which will possess its own character, its own ethos, its own type of laws. It is possible that such a new Empire might be based upon some religion, either new or old, but it will essentially be like most previous Earth Empires: based upon military prowess and the charisma, the leadership, of one or more leaders who will probably follow previous examples and end up committing hubris. Science, literature, art and so on may well follow in the wake of this new civilization, but these, too, will flourish for a while - some centuries perhaps - then decline.

Human life will go on, as it has for thousands of years, and it will be as if we have have learnt nothing from previous cultures, previous civilizations, with this new Empire expanding, establishing its own kind of order, then declining. That is, we human beings will remain essentially as we are now, and have been in the past few thousand years: at best, thinking warriors some of whom understand and live by ideals such as honour; at worst, selfish, greedy, undisciplined barbarians.

There will thus no be truely free society, and no genuine advancement: no development of our humanity, and no further human evolution. Our potential will not be realized.

2) The second possibility I foresee is that things continue as they are now, but with emergence of some kind of world government created and maintained to enforce certain political and social policies.

Such a proto-worldgovernment already exists in the United Nations, which through its Security Council and its so-called "War Crimes" and other tribunals oversees nations and enforces policy made by that Security Council, such as sanctions against nations and governments which this Security Council does not approve, and with national Police forces and intelligence agencies co-operating to track down, arrest and imprison those who contravene edicts and laws made or approved by agencies of this world government. Indeed, there will be the development of international Police, military and intelligence agencies which are accountable only to this world government.

In essence, the law of such a world government is a development of the abstract, ignoble, law of modern States, and as such is tyrannical in practice if not in name.

This world government will rely and indeed depend upon "member nations" accepting the social and political policies of such a world government whose primary aim will be to maintain the global capitalist-consumer status quo and which, in reality, will cover its real aims and policies (of social engineering and tyrannical control) through political "double-speak" and "buzz-words" such as "democracy" and "world-peace", exactly as all modern Western governments have done and are doing. Modern technology will increasingly be used to manipulate people, to pacify them, to monitor them, to restrict their freedom of movement, if the power-that-be decide to so restrict the movement of someone.

In effect, this world government will extend and increase the social engineering that has been such a feature of the modern Western world, aiming to bring most nations of the world under its social and political control, and aiming to make them part of the global capitalist status quo.

The type of society which forms the basis of such a world government already exists in nations like Britain, which are tyrannical in all but name, and whose people are manipulated by politicians, the Media, the entertainment industry. Such a society is basically an urbanized consumer society, with there being massive surveillance of the people by the Police and intelligence agencies, with personal information stored by such agencies on huge computer databases. In addition, such a society creates more and more laws to restrict what people can do, or say, or write, laws which give more and more power and authority to the government, just as the government builds, and continues to fill, more and more Prisons and "detention centres", and just as its Police become more bullying, and more violent, more unjust, in suppressing and controlling any dissent and indeed any contravention of government-made law, with this bullying, this violence, this injustice, this suppression, monitoring and control, all being explained away by politicians and government Media flunkies as "necessary", as "in the interests of public order", as "in the interests of democracy" and as "reasonable".

The aim of such national governments is and will continue to be to keep their people reasonably well-fed, well-entertained and in work which maintains the global capitalist-consumer status quo and which ensures the government has enough revenue through taxes to fund both the corrupt life-style of its politicians, flunkies and bureaucrats, and the abstract, tyrannical, ignoble social and political policies of the government of the day.

In this world-government scenario, people will have less freedom, less real choice, just as there will be the appearance, the illusion, of change, of human development. But that is all it will be: appearance, illusion, created and maintain by multi-national companies and multi-national politicians, adroit at manipulating people using modern technology. Slowly, the world and its peoples will become just a global market for multi-national companies with the world-government having the political and military power and strength to enforce its dictates on any nation, any people, who refused to accept its policies, decrees or dictates.

This world-government would concentrate on this world, and if there are any attempts to explore Outer Space it will be because of possible commercial gain and exploitation, with the human infestation spreading out from its dishonourable home-world to rapaciously plunder and exploit.

Such a tyrannical world-government, once developed - and it very nearly is developed - will have the resources and the funds to maintain its control for a considerable period of time: perhaps for a century or more.

Then, as the resources of the Earth itself become depleted, new technologies will emerge and be developed in an attempt to maintain the global economy and the continued growth on which it is based. And, for a while, these may well succeed and bring the illusion of stability. For instance, artificial food might be created because of scientific and technological advances, thus solving a potentially disruptive problem. If the world government, or its agencies, controlled such food and its distribution -as it probably would - then its power would be greatly strengthened.

Thus, in this scenario there might well be one or more probably two centuries of world tyranny before the collapse, although such a collapse is not, in this particular case, inevitable. There remains the possibility that this world-government will use advances in science and technology to modify human behaviour on a world-wide scale, through the use of either mass-medication or newly-developed brainwashing techniques, thus creating a population of people conditioned, or possibly bred, to be docile.

A system could, in theory and because of technology, be created which was self-perpetuating in its tyranny, and evil in its manipulation of people and its disregard for their dignity and freedom.

In this drab, sinister, inhuman scenario they may be two chances for future, honourable, change - toward freedom and evolution. One of these would arise off-world, if and when the commercial interests established stations and colonies in Outer Space. Then, there would be one or more chances of rebellion, of establishing a colony, a place, free from the control of the world-government. The other chance would arise on Earth itself through the gradual establishment and even more gradual success of a clandestine movement for freedom, dedicated to the ideal of honour and to destroying such a world-government.

3) The third possibility I foresee is creation of a new type of society, and new type of State, followed by the emergence of a new Empire which challenges the domination of the West and its global capitalist-consumer ethos, and which - inspired by a sense of Destiny, a mission - spreads not only over this planet but out into Outer Space, establishing new colonies.

I believe there are two possibilities here, both of which could enable our further evolution, depending on how their ideals are implemented and depending on how their mission is fulfilled, for both adhere to the human values of reason, honour, nobility, just as both can create noble, free, societies if their ideals are fully implemented in a practical way.

The first possibility is the creation of a real Islamic State, followed by the establishment of a new Khilafah. The second possibility is the creation of a National-Socialist type State, or at least a State inspired by the noble ideals and ethics underlying genuine National-Socialism, which I have outlined elsewhere in many and various articles and essays.

Of these two - Khilafah and National-Socialism - I see the re-establishment of the Khilafah as more probable, at least in the near future. I make this assessment based on the reality which now exists: there are few genuine National-Socialists, and even few people inspired by and upholding the noble ethics underlying National-Socialism, whereas there are vastly more Muslims. Moreover, few of these National-Socialists or Aryan idealists possess the sense of Destiny - the belief they have mission - necessary to build a new State, then an Empire, and so change the world forever, whereas such a sense of Destiny, such a mission, is inherent in Islam, and especially in the ideal of the Khilafah, an ideal which is already inspiring hundreds of thousands of Muslims world-wide, in organizations such as Hizb ut Tahrir.

I firmly believe that Islam has the potential to create not only a new civilization, governed according to reason, but also a new Empire which could take on and overthrow the established world-order dedicated as this world-order is to usury, decadence and a god-less materialism. Of course, Islam is today much mis-understand and much maligned in Western countries, but, correctly understood, it is a genuine middle Way, teaching reason and upholding noble justice and fairness. This middle Way of fairness and reason is particularly evident in the lives of the Prophet Muhammad and his son-in-law Ali Ibn Abu Talib, just as it was evident, for example, in the wonderful Islamic civilization which existed in Andalusia, and is evident today in the Muslim Brotherhood whose founder, Hassan Al-Banna, wrote many inspiring articles, such as his Ten Principles, which capture and express the essence of true Islam.

It could well be that such an Islamic Empire would create opportunities for the emergence of a new National-Socialist State. Such a NS State - or one based upon the ethics underlying an honourable racial nationalist world-view - certainly cannot arise within the next decade or two or three, and most probably will require for its creation a Vindex type figure: a real man of Destiny, a Kalki, who will most probably emerge during a future period of chaos and discontent.

However, my own view is that only a new State, new societies, based upon the principles of Folk Culture/Aryan law and upon Cosmic Ethics can create an evolutionary society of reason and true liberty, and that only new communities based on the ideals of Blood and Soil - on the folk wisdom and pagan apprehension underlying Folk Culture and National-Socialism - can provide us with the noble way of life capable not only of taking us toward and beyond the next stage of our evolution, but also enabling us to live in a truely human, and supra-human, way.

4) The fourth possibly I foresee is that of a new world of free, independent, nations governed according to idealism whose people consciously understand their humanity and strive to live and act in a human, a noble, way.

This future is one where the ideals underling Folk Culture - honour, liberty, reason, respect for Nature, awareness of the Cosmos, and of the Cosmic Being - are triumphant and succeed in establishing a new, global, way of life, with this triumph being the result of decades, perhaps a century or more, of effort by people upholding these ideals who have converted others to what is and will be the new "rational, human, religion of Folk Culture".

In this idealistic world, these free nations co-operate and trade together, just as science and technology are used in a moral, responsible, non-exploitive, way to aid our advancement with there possibly being the development of new technologies to enable us to explore and eventually colonize Outer Space, thus enabling our further evolution.

There are thus, in this new idealistic world, no Empires, no exploitation, no manipulation of peoples by politicians or vested commercial interests, and no compulsion: only the living of a human way of life.

In reality, two or more of the above possibilities may be in existence - or emerging - at the same time, as they may well be some conflict, spiritual or military or both, between them, before the matter is settled, and one emerges triumphant.

What is occurring now, especially in our own nations is - as I have written elsewhere - the result of our own past mistakes, our own hubris. The nations of the West are reaping the consequences of their past colonial, imperialist, policies and their past and present greed, both personal and national.

One image which I find appropriate to describe our situation - that is, the situation of our human species - is that we resemble a destructive, violent, infestation sweeping over the face of this planet. Can our rapacious growth be stopped? Can we create truely free societies which allow for human development, for further human evolution? Which respect the life which exists on this planet?

I believe the key to future freedom - to our future evolution - lies in three things: upholding the ideal of personal honour, acknowledging our humanity (that is, respecting all life on this planet and treating it with honour), and abolishing tyranny through abolishing national, government taxes, thus enabling the creation of a society of reason and liberty. The present System is weak because it depends on taxes: it depends on fleecing and stealing from those who work.

No government can or will tolerate a substantial loss of its revenue, and if there is one thing guaranteed to undermine and destroy modern Western States it is a genuine, mass, tax rebellion involving a refusal to pay national, government taxes. The more people who "opt-out" of the national economy by working without paying taxes, the better it is and will be for real freedom, for the less revenue such governments have, the less money they have for their ignoble social and political schemes and policies, and the less money the politicians, the flunkies, the bureaucrats have to indulge themselves.

The truth is The State - with its bullying Police, its corrupt politicians, its abstract, tyrannical laws - is built upon and survives because of taxes. Take away the revenue which it steals from its people, and it, and its corrupt supporters, will collapse. All tyrannies - be they built and maintained by a tyrant, a monarch or some government - survive only because they tax the people, make laws to make payment of such taxes mandatory, and employ bullies to collect taxes, if necessary by force. All tyrannies makes laws which make it legal for them to seize the property and assets of those who do not pay taxes, and imprison any person who refuses to pay. In complete contrast, a truely free society - a society of liberty and honour - gives people the choice, allowing them to contribute voluntarily toward funding local community ventures which benefit those local communities, and which allows them to specify how such contributions can be used.

The truth is that personal honour - with its requirement for the giving of personal allegiance - does not allow for the government stealing which is taxation. A national, a government, tax is ignoble precisely because it contradicts this giving of personal allegiance: the tax is demanded by some person or person unknown (or some remote, faceless, government department) just as the monies from such taxies are used as the government decrees: once given (or rather, stolen) the persons who have given it (had it stolen from them) have no say in how it is used or spent.

As for which futuristic scenario I myself believe is most likely, I do not know, for it depends on what we who are living now do with our own lives. For I firmly believe that we, as individuals, can make a difference.

If we do nothing - if we do not change ourselves and set an example for others to admire and possibly follow - then the bleakest and most sinister scenario may well arise, dooming us. We - because we are human, possessed of will and capable of nobility - can create whatever future we desire just as, because we can be lazy and selfish, we can let others create a future for us.
