"I, and others like me, are the darkness which is necessary and without which evolution and knowledge are impossible. I am also my own opposite, and yet beyond both. This is not a riddle, but a statement of Mastery, and one which, alas, so few have the ability to understand." Diablerie: Revelations of a Satanist by Anton Long (1)
David Myatt's own life is one long accumulation of often quite extraordinary and seemingly contradictory experiences and involvements. He is widely traveled and has spent time in most continents of the world. He has been, at various times in his life, a Christian monk, a Buddhist, a Taoist, a drifter, a convict, a revolutionary activist on behalf of White supremacist and neo-nazi groups, a convert to Islam, a supporter of people such as Usama bin Laden, and a member of a highly secret military organization, set up by British government during the Cold War, to conduct sabotage and assassinations. He has also been accused - by the British Police and others - of having written practical terrorist guides, and has been arrested several times in connection with such material and about allegations of conspiracy to murder. These cases were dropped due to "lack of evidence." Myatt inspired people such as David Copeland, the racist London "nail-bomber" whose bombs killed three people, and injured hundreds. Myatt is also a Martial Arts expert, having studied in the Far East, and has undertaken several journeys of exploration, including twice cycling through part of the Sahara Desert.
Myatt has also written a quite extraordinary amount of political and religious material, primarily about National Socialism, and Islam, but also about what he has termed The Numinous Way, and its Cosmic Ethics. He has also written some volumes of pagan poetry, translated Ancient Greek literature, as well as authored several collections of Occult short-stories.
In addition, many people - especially journalists and some academic writers such as Nicholas Goodricke-Clarke - also maintain that Myatt has been involved in Occultism and Satanism, and is responsible for writing most of the infamous documents published by the Left Hand Path ("sinister") organization The Order of Nine Angles, with these infamous documents including several concerning "culling", that is, human sacrifice. Several journalists have gone even further and hinted that Myatt was behind at least one unsolved murder.
Considering Myatt's apparent change of direction and political
views, and his exploration of various religions ranging from Buddhism,
Taoism, Paganism to Islam, it is relevant to ask the following
questions: "What does Myatt himself believe?" and "What is the reason
for this exploration and these changes?"
The Explanations:
There are five possible answers, all of which have, over the past ten years, been put forward by both the enemies and supporters of Myatt. These answers are:
(1) That he has been - and possibly still is - engaged in a Promethean, or Faustian, quest for knowledge and understanding, the goal of which is Enlightenment, or Wisdom, and that in the course of this quest he has enthusiastically sought experiences and involvement. These experiences have included practical involvement with Christianity, Islam, Buddhism, and Taoism, as well as National Socialism.
(2) That he has been following a particular Occult, or esoteric, tradition, or path, which path is of the sinister, or Satanic, variety (The Order of Nine Angles, or O.N.A.) and involves - according to published documents mentioned in books such as Black Sun - "individual growth into realms of darkness and danger through practical acts of prowess, endurance and the risk of life," and "the performance of acts that are generally regarded as forbidden, illegal and evil." (2) It should be noted that this explanation depends on the assumption that David Myatt and Anton Long - the Grand Master of the ONA and author of most of the documents of the ONA - are one and the same person.
(3) That he has been seeking to use political, Occult and religious groups, and individuals associated with these, for his own political ends, which ends include the overthrow through subversion, terrorism and violent revolution, of established governments with the aim of creating a National Socialist, or neo-nazi, society.
(4) That he has been an agent secretly working for the British government - as some kind of secret MI5 agent - to do some of their "dirty work" and quite possibly disrupt certain organizations and even society itself.
(5) That he is, quite simply, weird or mad - maybe even some kind of
psychopath - and does not know what he is doing, or is likely to do.
Myatt himself has - until a few years after his conversion to Islam - assiduously propagated the third explanation: that is, that he is a life-long National Socialist, has never renounced his admiration for Adolph Hitler, and has been fanatically pursuing, for thirty years, his goal of creating the foundations for a Galactic Empire (3) through the establishment of a new National Socialist Reich:
As for my own past, I have given as much detail as I care to give in my three-part Autobiographical Notes and anyone who wants to know the truth about my past and my involvement with Occultism, such as it was, should refer to them, and especially to my essay Occultism and National-Socialism and my article The Spirituality of National-Socialism: A Reply to Criticism." (Private E-Mail from Myatt to JR Wright, dated 15 February 2002 A.D.)
Seen in this context, even Myatt's involvement with Islam is understandable: a battle against what he has termed "the common Zionist enemy". (4) Myatt - using one of his Muslim pseudonyms - was also fond of quoting Koranic verses such as:
"In exchange for their lives and their goods, Allah has given those who believe Paradise. Thus will they fight in Allah's cause, and thus will they kill, and be killed." [9: 111]
Most of Myatt's enemies - such as the anti-fascist organization Searchlight - have propagated the second explanation: that he is a Satanist, who has used politics, and even religion, for his own sinister (or "Left hand Path" ) ends (5), which some commentators have taken to mean the subversion of society, and the creation of some kind of Dark Imperium. (6)
The fourth explanation - or rather rumor - re-surfaced on Usenet,
and elsewhere (7). However, Myatt's
voluminous writings about National Socialism - and, more recently,
about Islam - would seem to contradict
this since these writings betray a passionate conviction and integrity,
not to mention a consistent fanaticism over a period of several
decades. Yet given Myatt's involvement with a highly secret military
organization - rumored to have been set up, trained and funded by the
British government during the Cold War - this explanation may not be as
far-fetched as it seems. However, and more insightfully, any one who
knows the man, knows of his loathing of The System, the Establishment,
and his desire to undermine, destroy and replace it - and this
loathing, and desire, are at variance with belonging to, or aiding, an
organization which is part of The System, a pillar of the
Establishment. In addition, this kind of rumor is archetypal
"dis-information" by both the authorities and those opposed, for
political and other reasons, to the views, actions and beliefs of
anti-Establishment, and revolutionary, activists.
What is not in doubt is Myatt's intelligence. Even his sternest
critics admit he is an intelligent man and one source - a former
political associate of Myatt - even claimed that Myatt himself once
said that his measured IQ was 187 "give or take a few points." (8) This seems to rule out the fifth
explanation.
"Sometimes my phrases, my grammar, perhaps my words, contradict a norm - or mock my own style: but there is intent even here, in the form chosen to present the aspects of my unconventional and far from respectable life. To what is expected, I have not and shall not conform." (Diablerie: Revelations of a Satanist )
A Reasonable Answer:
Of all the explanations, I - having studied Myatt's writings for several years, corresponded with him and met him many times over a period of many years - was initially, inclined, like many people who have studied Myatt's life, to believe the second explanation, which explanation it is only fair to write that Myatt himself disputes.
For me, this Occult explanation seemed to be, and still seems to be, the most rational, the most plausible, explanation of the varied events of his life. However, I also believe that Myatt was sincere in his National Socialist beliefs, even though it did and does seem that his priority was, is, and always had been, the disruption of existing societies as a prelude to the creation of a new and more warrior like society, which new society would form the foundation for his Galactic Empire. In pursuing these goals, he has, in my opinion, been fanatical and ruthless, and well as - for nearly forty years - consistent, employing as he has, in turn, things like National Socialism and militant Islam.
It did and does seem that his primary goals were and are, first, the disruption or destruction of existing societies by any means possible, which means include terrorism (from whatever source), subversive ideas and subversive groups, and, second, the re-building of society on entirely new - and sinister - lines. This destruction and rebuilding will, of course, allow the emergence of a new type of more evolved human being, something Myatt has often written about.
The author of Diablerie: Revelations of a Satanist describes how, when still a youth, he understood the essence of Satanism:
"As I studied the subject and as my own personal understanding grew - of myself and others and the world - I understood esoteric arts as a means, a way, or method. The aim was to create a new individual - a higher type of human. I came to see magick, and especially the Black Arts or the Left hand Path, as a way of creating a new species - a race of superior individuals... These individuals would use their magick to change the world... Of necessity I saw these individuals as ruthless - not especially cold and unemotional, but knowing what was necessary and doing it, without the remorse of the emotionally weak. I realized I would have to be ruthless."
Thus it is indeed possible to conclude that Myatt's life and aims
are
sinister ones
(9), and that as a proponent,
propagandist, innovator, and practical example of the sinister, or The
Left Hand Path, Myatt ranks well above better known figures such as
Aleister Crowley and Anton LaVey. If this is indeed the case, then it
is possible that in future decades Myatt will be widely known as the
person who transformed, indeed revolutionized, The Left hand Path,
making it a practical, although dangerous, way to what its adherents
call "enlightenment and true freedom, and a means to create a new type
of human being".
"Myatt rejects the quasi-religious organization and ceremonial antics of the Church of Satan, the Temple of Set and other satanic groups. He believes that traditional satanism goes far beyond the gratification of the pleasure-principle and involves the arduous achievement of self-mastery, self-overcoming in a Nietzschean sense, and ultimately cosmic wisdom. His conception of satanism is practical, with an emphasis on individual growth into realms of darkness and danger through practical acts of prowess, endurance and the risk of life." (Black Sun, p.218)
"The core of my story is Satanism - of the genuine type - and to understand me is to understand this much mis-understood way of living. Satanism is the name given to a practical way of living: a quest for achievement, excellence, worth, defiance, where the individual struggles with and against the world, their own unconscious and the primal powers of darkness beyond the psyche... I knew what had yet to be achieved, by me and all others; what remains to be explored, discovered; what can be." (Diablerie: Revelations of a Satanist)
"And when [such] works are complete, a Grand Master disappears from sight - toward the next stage, leaving astonishment, disbelief and many questions in his wake. And then the failures begin their campaign, of distortion and lies. Just occasionally, they might hear me laughing." ( Diablerie: Revelations of a Satanist )
The author of another ONA article (10) - one Stephen Brown, long suspected of being another of Myyatt's pseudonyms - has many interesting things to say about his own life:
"In an important sense, most of my life represents genuine Satanism in action - a going to extremes, a learning from the experiences of those extremes, and a doing of dark, dangerous and sometimes "illegal" deeds. This life stands in stark contrast to those of the pseudo-Satanists, some of whom have acquired a notoriety and a 'fame'. I have - as a Satanist should - been intoxicated by the essence of life itself - by that which inspires, which causes the creativity, self-absorption and genius of all great artists be they musicians, writers, warriors, explorers or whatever. I have dared to dream and to defy - and have dared to try and make my dreams and inspiration a reality. I have used my life for some purpose - striven toward goals with a passion that overcomes all obstacles. I have known great love - physical, intellectual, and of the soul, the essence of existence. I have also known the opposite - the sadness that awaits all who venture into the dark starkness of the Abyss within and without. And thus the synthesis of these and other things which is the prehension of wisdom. " (The Song of a Satanist)
"Most Satanists cannot publish an autobiography, or even have a biography which relates their life in detail while they still live, for the simple reason that it would probably render them liable to prosecution by those asinine guardians of the even more stupid system of 'Law'. [ Plus the fact that most wish to continue their sinister esoteric work in secret, to aid the sinister dialectic.] If this threat does not exist, then their life has not been Satanic enough. And, moreover, that life is never completed until causal death - something written at a certain age, should be out of date within a few years. If it was not, then again the full Satanic promise of one's existence has not been fulfilled. The time for the publication of such writings is after the causal death of its subject - although an expurgated version may serve a purpose, for some replete with experiences who wish to express the essence and inspire others to follow and then surpass them." (The Song of a Satanist)
There is an oblique reference, in this article, to Diablerie: Revelations of a Satanist:
"I have written a brief recollection of some of the experiences of my Satanic life, for posthumous publication. But even in that MS, there were many things not recalled, perchance the MS falls into the wrong hands before the right time. Such a [full] recalling - of dark and occasionally ecstatic deeds, most of them "illegal" and all of them "heretical" in this purblind society - will have to await my twilight years and a recounting of them to a trusted Satanic comrade. And even though the MS was written only two years ago, it is already out of date ... " (The Song of a Satanist)
As mentioned above, this particular sinister explanation of Myatt's life depends on the assumption that David Myatt and Anton Long are the same person: that is, that Myatt used the pseudonym Anton Long not only when writing the many manuscripts and documents which the O.N.A. has published and which bear Anton Long's name, but also during the time (late 1970's and early 1980's) when a ceremonial ONA group existed in England and secretly recruited members.(11)
Such speculation about Myatt, however, does not detract from the sinister nature, and intent, of the ONA, which, according to one source, is considered "dangerous even by those within the Satanic fraternity." (12)
Towards A Conclusion:
In my considered view, only two of the aforementioned five explanations
are realistic and reasonable ones, given the known facts of Myatt's
life, and given the various explanations we have, from Myatt himself,
from authors such as "Anton Long", and from other sources. These two
reasonable explanations are:
(a) That he
has been - and possibly still is - engaged in a Promethean, or
Faustian, quest for knowledge and understanding, the goal of which is
Enlightenment, or Wisdom, and that in the course of this quest he has
enthusiastically sought experiences and involvement. That is, he,
having experienced them all directly, has now transcended not only
Occultism and National Socialism but also conventional religions such
as Christianity, Buddhism and Islam, and has arrived at the modern
morality evident in his writings about Cosmic Ethics and The Numinous
Way,
based as these are, as he writes, upon empathy with all life and a
rational understanding of Nature and the Cosmos;
(b) That he has been consistently, for over forty years, following a
particular Occult, or esoteric,
tradition, or way, which path and tradition, in his case, is a
sinister, or Left Hand Path, one, and which particular sinister path he
has, over these decades, substantially added to, as a direct result of
his own many and varied experiences.
In respect of his many effusions regarding what he calls The Numinous
Way, it is possible, and indeed in my view more than probable -
as some of his opponents allege and as many of the supporters of the
ONA affirm - that these particular recent manifestations
are just another aspect of Myatt's long term sinister strategy to bring
about changes
within society itself, to disrupt and transform society, as a prelude
to some New Aeon and the creation of a new, more evolved, human being.
Of this "mystic Numinous Way" material which Myatt has produced,
an American based Occultist wrote, in November of 2008 AD, that Myatt:
"..crafted his Numinous Way for a specific very long term purpose, which is of providing a complete pagan “way” to enable some people to live beyond and independent of the current “System” (the New World Order and the like with its Magian values). That is, to create new communities and from them, over causal time, new dynamic and warrior tribes, for the ethic of personal honor, and the law of honor, are the ethical foundations of this new “way” of his." Myatt, The ONA, and Mysticism by "Dark Logos", dated October 119yf
This does indeed seem a most logical explanation, consistent with the
assumption that Myatt's aims are, and have been for over forty years,
sinister ones, connected with the ONA. Hence, his purpose, in
respect of this Numinous Way, is to inspire some people to "drop-out"
of
conventional society, found pagan communities, with these communities
becoming - over a period of at least a century, or far more - the
genesis of new warrior clans, poised to take advantage of what Myatt
has often called System Breakdown (the collapse of the Old
Order).
In this matter of such "mystical" and paganistic writings as The
Numinous Way - as with so many aspects of Myatt's life - the seemingly
obvious explanation is not necessarily the
correct one. For instance, in respect of his time in a Christian
monastery, the author of Diablerie: Revelations of a Satanist
writes:
"I extended the range of my being. I explored and became part of another world, another way of living - not detrimental to me but whose experience enriched, which made me whole in the truest sense possible: via practical experience of life. This does not mean I became a Nazarene, or renounced my Satanist vows..."
That is, there was a long term sinister intent, or purpose, present
in such an undertaking, something confirmed by Anton Long in another
autobiographical essay:
"This almost two-year long sojourn in a monastery was the result of a conscious decision to undertake another Insight Rôle: to experience what would in many ways be almost the exact opposite of the type of life I had been pursuing in the previous five or so years of my, still then, youthful life. For those years had been replete with ultra-violence, with heretical hell-raising on behalf of a political cause, with indulging in the many pleasures and delights conferred by, with and through, women, and with an outlawish attitude which made me joyfully and often dangerously, and at the risk of my liberty, indulge in theft, robbery and small scale racketeering." Emanations of a Mage (unpublished MS by Anton Long, dated 118 Year of Fayen)
Thus, the conclusion concerning Myatt's motivation, aims and intent
which I favor - and which, incidentally, many knowledgeable Occultists
also favor - is the Occult one, of Myatt progressing, over a period of
some four decades, along a certain sinister path.
As for Myatt himself, his continues to issue various propagandistic
"Statements", the latest of which states:
"That, nearly nine years ago now, I converted to Islam and, despite past and present rumours and disinformation, I am still a Muslim, Alhamdulillah, and I shall remain a Muslim, InshaAllah."
In respect of such public statements about his involvement with Islam,
I find such documents as To Presence The Dark
of particular interest, for its author (Anton Long) chillingly states:
"It is of fundamental importance - to evolution both individual and otherwise - that what is Dark, Sinister or Satanic is made real in a practical way, over and over again. That is, that what is dangerous, awesome, numinous, tragic, deadly, terrible, terrifying and beyond the power of ordinary mortals, laws or governments to control is made manifest. In effect, non-Initiates (and even Initiates) need constantly reminding that such things still exist; they need constantly to be brought "face-to-face", and touched, with what is, or appears to be, inexplicable, uncontrollable, powerful and "evil". They need reminding of their own mortality - of the unforeseen, inexplicable "powers of Fate", of the powerful force of "Nature".
If this means killing, wars, suffering, sacrifice, terror, disease. tragedy and disruption, then such things must be - for it is one of the duties of a Satanic Initiate to so presence the dark, and prepare the way for, or initiate, the change and evolution which always result from such things. Such things as these must be, and always will be, because the majority of people are or will remain, inert and sub-human unless changed. The majority is - and always will be until it evolves to become something else - raw material to be used, moulded, cut-away and shaped to create what must be. There is no such thing as an innocent person because everyone who exists is part of the whole, the change, the evolution, the presencing of life itself, which is beyond them, and their life only has meaning through the change, development and evolution of life. Their importance is what they can become, or what can be achieved through their death. their tragedy, their living - their importance does not lie in their individual happiness or their individual desires or whatever."
Myatt has certainly encouraged, incited and often organized and led
practical violence, hatred, terror and subversion. In particular, he
has - in order to manipulate and change both individuals and society in
general - propagated, and aided, many subversive ideas and belief
systems, as well as subversive organizations, as he has also created
many new subversive (and "revisionist") ideas and organizations.
This manipulation, subversion and change is the "sinister strategy" which lies at the very core of The Order of Nine Angles.
The disruption of existing forms is necessary, whatever tactics (such as politics) are used to aid the sinister Aeon. Disruption means the destablization of societies - particularly Western ones. Further, societies must be destabilized on the practical level. This will be achieved in two ways - via using sinister magickal energies, and by aiding practical disruption. The first means an increase in chaotic type energies: sinister random energies which infect susceptible individuals and drive them to do certain things, to disrupt, cause chaos, spread evil and so on. The second means aiding those things which will undermine societies - e.g. drugs, pornography, crime, political unrest, economic misfortune, racial and other social tensions (including religious ones). (ONA document: ONA Strategy and Tactics)
In addition, two essays, distributed by the ONA in October 2003 AD, further explain not only this sinister strategy, but also the "Insight Rôles" which members of the ONA are expected to undertake to aid this sinister strategy. The following quote is from Notes on the Sinister Predator:
"The Sinister Predator culls our own human species. In effect, the Sinister Predator is a natural and necessary evolutionary mechanism: a means to weed out the human dross and to keep our own human species in check, ensuring it does not reach the point of significant unbalance... We Sinister Initiates and Adepts are the natural balance - the natural predators - which and who not only aid evolution, but who and which can direct that evolution toward the goals we know are necessary. We cull the dross; we create, inspire, and ensure that our species remains healthy - that it has the competition, the darkness, the opposition, the heresy, and especially the predators, necessary to ensure health."
This particular ONA manuscript ends with the following amoral statement:
It should be obvious to all Sinister Initiates and Adepts that the suffering, deaths and trauma caused by the Sinister Predator are irrelevant from the perspective of the Sinister Dialectic.
This is one sinister explanation of Myatt's documented support - as
a Muslim - of such things as "suicide attacks".
In respect of Insight Rôles, the ONA suggests the following:
(1) Join or form a covert insurrectionary organization, dedicated to National Socialism, whose aim is to undermine by practical means the status quo and which uses the strategy and tactics outlined in The Strategy and Tactics of Revolution (Parts I and II)
(2) Undertake the role of assassin, selecting as your opfers those who publicly support or aid, ZOG, the New World Order, The System.
(3) Convert to Islam and aid, through words, or deeds, or both, those undertaking Jihad against Zionism and the NWO.
(4) Join or form an active anarchist organization or group dedicated to fighting the capitalist System.
(5) Join or form a National Socialist group or organization, and aid that organization and especially aid and propagate "historical revisionism".(ONA document Aeonic Insight Rôles, dated 114yf)
Readers may well find items (3), (1) and (5) of especial interest in
the context of Myatt's own life. In respect of Myatt's Islam, this is
not - as some might assume - him partaking of another ONA-type Insight
Rôle (which, according to ONA documents lasts from only one to
two years), but rather him living in such a way that he can, in a
practical manner, incite, aid and encourage change, chaos, violence,
terror, and disruption, and in particular, aid and encourage the
downfall of "the System", of that Western "New World Order" which he
regards as de-evolutionary and a hindrance to the creation of his new
human species, Homo Galactica.
Furthermore, there are two comments which do seem to up Myatt's own life:
We are feared because we understand and because we rejoice in living - in its pleasures but most importantly in its possibilities. We extend the frontiers of evolution while others sleep and cry. (ONA document, The Dark Forces, dated yf87 )

In conclusion, therefore, the most logical, plausible, explanation most certainly is that Myatt has been steadfastly and loyally following the sinister, Occult, path he chose nearly four decades ago, and that his exploits, experiences and involvements, have been and are linked to this path in two ways. Firstly, and to use the terminology of the ONA, part of his own inner quest, that is, internal magick - a magick which creates a new individual, two stages of which are Adeptship and Master. Secondly, part of the sinister strategy of the ONA, that is, aeonic magick which aims to change, disrupt, society itself - "to presence the dark" - and create some kind of warrior society, Dark Imperium or Galactic Empire. To achieve his aims he has ruthlessly - that is, Satanically - used such things as National Socialism, paganism, terrorism and, now, even Islam.
In addition, I consider that Myatt is far more complex and sutble than this overview of mine suggests. That is, he has many facets to his character, facets which might seem to other people - and our society - to be contradictory: poet; Nature-loving mystic; supporter of terrorism and author of several practical terrorist guides; National Socialist; supporter of Islam; Traditional Satanist, exulting in life; rustic countryman; family-man; supporter of Sapphic relationships (13); lothario; explorer; man of violence; Martial Art expert; cultured intellectual... But the truth is, or rather, seems to be, that he has explored, and developed, these diverse facets himself as part of his quest. As the author of Song of a Satanist wrote:
"Satanism is an attitude to living... Satanism means living one's life in a certain way - achieving things, in the real world by one's own efforts and because one is exulting in existence itself consciously. That is, one's life is intentional - a striving toward a higher existence by practical deeds, by overcoming challenges which take evolution to new realms. A Satanist strives to change themselves - and then the world itself... They are not content, and even when a goal is achieved, there is the need to find and strive toward another goal, another way of living. There are always new experiences awaiting - new levels of achievement."
Anton Long, in a recent autobiographical essay(14), sums up his life in the following words:
"For over three decades I have been on both a quest and a mission. The quest has been to experience, and learn from, the possibilities of life. The mission has been to change this world of ours: to move it toward the next stage of our human evolution. This next stage involves us in learning to develope, and use, certain faculties. In simple terms, the next stage involves us in growing-up: in living, behaving, as mature human beings, and in leaving home, that is, this planet.
The reality of the present is that the majority of people are far from human maturity, living as they do like human children in adult bodies, in thrall to their passions, desires, and easily influenced and swayed by other people, by rhetoric, by Media manipulation, by unconscious energies, and other such things.
A truely mature human being is one who has mastered themselves; one who can know and experience great sorrow, great happiness, great joy, great suffering, but who remains strong despite such things. Such a mature individual is unique, and truely free. One of the signs of our immaturity is that most of us need to assign labels to ourselves and others, for this gives us a sense of security, of identity. It enables us to believe that we "know and understand" other people. For a mature individual, the labels of society are irrelevant.
Thus, in my own life I have been many things, according to conventional labels... But these conventional labels are irrelevant.
The error is that life, being in essence acausal, cannot be described in the finite causal terms inherent in all such labels, categories, concepts and isms. To so describe it, is to limit and mis-understand it: to impose a causal perception upon what is not-causal.....
I have been a pioneer in the Art of Magick. I have created a practical system of training - physical, psychic, magickal, personal - which works: which can and which does produce genuine Adepts and Masters/Mistresses of Earth. I have also striven to go to the limits of presently existing human experience, involving myself in a practical, life-enhancing, often dangerous, way, with many ways of life. There have been dark deeds; there have been light deeds; confrontations with the essence. I have done this to learn; to understand myself and others; to distil from such experiences the very essence of life, of magick, itself. In one way, I am, could be, or should be, a role-model, for those inclined to voyage toward the next stage of our human evolution. In one sense, I have transcended beyond old, causal forms, devoid of labels, of isms, of rituals, even words. And here, in this one human life, are meanings; here is the essence itself; here is the stage beyond that of Mastery, which few recognize, and even fewer understand.
No doubt those who cling to the old Aeon, of immature human beings, will find some material in this present work to castigate me, and to use to try and discredit me and my work, as no doubt such people will continue to view me, themselves, others and the world through the primitive labels, categories and isms which have kept us in thrall for centuries. Some may even use some trendy theory in an attempt to re-interpret or explain my life and me as an individual. I do not care. I have never cared about such things. Indeed, such things make me smile, or laugh."
As for the often repeated rumors - begun decades ago in one newspaper article - about Myatt having indulged in animal sacrifice, the author of Presencing the Dark: The Weird Life of Anton Long has this to say:
"I never did - and never would - harm any animals, for there were and are more than enough worthless human dross waiting to be culled." (15)
Are - as many people assume and as seem highly probable - David Myatt and Anton Long one and the same person? Is Myatt the Grand Master of the subversive and dangerous Order of Nine Angles? Consider a recent offering from Anton Long - a short story entitled Nythra(16) which is a dark tale of two callous, cold-blooded killers. In addition, one of Anton Long's autobiographical essay ends with the following statement:
I apprehend the whole; and, having apprehended, know the necessity of violent, bloody change, of how the dark must be presenced, of how new nexions must be created by those striving as I have strived, beyond the limits, between and beyond the light and the dark.....
Furthermore, the ONA document Notes on the Sinister Predator, signed Anton Long, states:
"At this moment in our development, it is important that vast numbers of the human species are culled, on a regular basis..."
As that document makes clear, this can be done by individual ONA members culling "the dross", by means such as assassination, and by:
"Encouraging, participating in, aiding, and creating war, combat, and those things - such as acts of "direct action" [what the unenlightened often call "terrorism"] - which can aid, or begin, or continue wars, armed conflicts, combat and "disasters".
Thus, we might ask if this rather stark contrast between David Myatt's mystical poems and letters, and Anton Long's dark stories, essays and amoral ONA documents, intentional? Is this one of Myatt's ways of going "beyond the limits" and placing himself "between and beyond the light and the dark", and possibly, like some Satanic Grand Master, laughing at us and the world?
Some people have compared David Myatt and Charles Manson, as the following two quotes - taken from discussions on the Internet - indicate:
"I see him [Myatt] in the same mold as Manson: a prophet of the Kali Yuga; a nihilistic visionary - but with a grander vision than Manson's, and far more ruthless, fanatical and determined to see it come to fruition..."
"Comparisons have been made between Myatt and Manson, and while I agree the two are similar, for me Myatt is superior in his reasoning, in his insight, his deeds, and in his aims which are genuinely cosmically sinister. Also, Manson got caught, while Myatt didn't and hasn't - which is a great plus...Furthermore, I think Myatt, through his ONA and his other stuff, has achieved a greater influence than Manson."
One possible conclusion is that Myatt is far more sinister than Manson - more controlled, more complex a person (as I indicated above), more manipulative (in a genuinely sinister way) and with a rational, fully-developed sinister philosophy, a sinister philosophy which, embodied in the ONA, has influenced and is influencing many thousands of people, world-wide. Myatt - as terrorist - is responsible at the very least for three violent deaths (the bombs of David Copeland), and for encouraging, inciting, planning, and being involved with, many acts of violence, hatred and terrorism, many of which acts have resulted in serious injuries and deaths(17), and all of which he has done - in my view - to "aid the sinister dialectic" and the destruction of wwhat he calls "The System". (18)
The Laughter of the Trickster:
In the context of this analysis, two items issued by the ONA (on or around December 2004 AD) are of particular interest. An interview with Anton Long - Nasz Dom: The Dark Tradition Continues - and an article entitled The Laughter of the Adept. These confirm my own view that Myatt refuses to take himself, or his works too seriously, and - as a Trickster - enjoys playing games, creating riddles, and laughing at others:
"There is also, be it known, much laughter here, by me and a few others, at the antics of the obsessed ones who scurry about seeking answers to questions they do not even understand or query. A laughter, because some things, some questions, were crafted in such a way to bring such obsessions and scurrying and misunderstandings and this laughter itself. For we are changelings: of ourselves, and of other things." (Nasz Dom: The Dark Tradition Continues)
"One of the least-known but important signs of a genuine Adept of our Dark Tradition, our sinister way, is the ability to not take one's self too seriously - to laugh, at one's self, and especially at others: those who fall for the japes, the games, the riddles, the tests, that we as Adepts set for neophytes, for the poseurs, for the supine masses. For we revel in such things, in such games, which we create and play for our own amusement, and that of others like us, just as we love to be changelings and cause confusion, misunderstanding, doubt, uncertainty - and, occasionally, the light of insight, dawning as it can and does upon one person possessed of our own evolutionary and magickal abilities, perchance propelling that person towards us and our ways..." A Final Conclusion?
The generally accepted conclusion, among both Myatt's opponents and the advocates and supporters of the ONA, is that Myatt was and is committed to the Dark Path evident in the ONA, and has used violence, terrorism, and political and religious ideas, in an attempt to cause chaos, and to subvert and overthrow society in order to bring about some kind of Dark Imperium, or Dark New Order. This is my own, personal, view regarding David Myatt.
In respect of
Myatt's conversion to Islam, it is my considered
opinion that Myatt is using, and has been using, radical
Islam as a sinister tactic in
order to further his clandestine sinister aims, which are of causing
chaos and
disruption, of inciting violence and terrorism, and of - in a classical
act of diabolic blasphemy befitting a Grand Master of The Left Hand
Path - championing those causes and people which and who are regarded,
in the society of his time, as heretical, and support for which is
often illegal, and certainly controversial and dangerous, under
conventional laws. Hence, for instance, his championing and propagation
of both the National Socialism of Adolf Hitler, and his more recent
support for
people such as Usama bin Laden. Thus, according
to the ONA:
"What is not well understood even among some sinister Initiates, is that the promotion of radical Islam - against the Magian/New World Order/Nazarene ethos that now pervades and which is distorting evolution and ushering in a new tyranny - is akin to a sinister rite which presences certain acausal energies.
Thus, such promotion of and support for things and people considered by the neo-cons to be "evil" - such as bin Laden - is a new Black Mass appropriate to these times of ours. It is now a heresy in "the West".
The practical participation and encouragement of such things - directly contrary to the current status quo - is thus one valid personal Insight Role (for the really satanic, not the role-players) and a means of presencing genuine sinister energies: one aspect of a new five-dimensional presencing (or act of magick in Old Aeon speak) and thus an act of sinister magick appropriate to these causal times." "Myatt is the archetypal Trickster - or to be more exact, the archetypal Mage. That is, he has been following a certain esoteric Way, or Path, which Way he has significantly extended as he has ventured along it, and that his diverse experiences, and roles, have been part of this Promethean quest. This, of course, includes both his role as a fanatical National Socialist, and his role as a radical Islamist, preaching Jihad.
How do you think he [Myatt] will be - or should be - regarded in a hundred years time?
As a genuine Mage - a Grand Master of The Left Hand Path - who has dared to genuinely defy and who has dared to undertake genuine diverse practical experiences and roles, lasting many years. He makes the charlatans - the Laveys, the Aquinos, the Crowleys - look like charlatans."
In addition, as someone, with perspicacity, commented (August 2005 AD) :
"Myatt may seem to have flitted from one politico-religious philosophy to another, but there is a terrible thread of continuity and rigour through his life and writings that suggests he is much more than a disingenuous provocateur. Naziism and Islamicism have served, in turn, as modalities of disruption for what remains at core an occult working to sow general chaos and division - the necessary passage of "Helter Skelter" to break down the Old Order, before the founding of the New."
This is, in my view, is a correct assessment of Myatt, even given Myatt's many Islamic effusions, and his many and varied mystical writings about The Numinous Way, which writings are most probably, as indicated above, some new emanation of his sinister dialectic, or even - perhaps somewhat far fetched - some new dark jape he is playing, for his own amusement, or that of his colleagues(19). That is, Myatt may have deliberately set out to create yet another new image for himself - this time of a "wise, old, Mage". This image certainly seems, at the time of writing (2006 AD) to be the one projected by some websites maintained by some Myatt supporters, while Myatt himself continues to present himself - for the moment at least - as a Muslim. Furthermore, the "founding of the New", mentioned in the above quote, is - as I have stated above and elsewhere - some kind of warrior society, a Dark Imperium, based on the ethos and law of honor, the creation of which has certainly been Myatt's primary aim for over thirty years.
It is also worth remembering what I wrote in my Biographical Notes about Myatt:
Let us not forget Myatt, The Master Trickster - for it might well be that his recent mystical effusions are one more jape, of his, or some more diversionary tactics, or even some kind of test, for the loyalty, and honor of others. For I personally find it to be of great interest that one of his Islamist supporters, based in America - himself a convert to Islam who still believes Myatt has never renounced his loyalty to Islam - has openly stated that he believes Myatt is testing people in this way. Add to this the allegations regarding the falsifications of dates on some articles attributed to Myatt, the allegations regarding some articles being incorrectly attributed to Myatt, and the disinformation propagated about Myatt by his enemies, and we surely have to take some care before drawing our own conclusions about the man.
However, the final conclusion as to David Myatt's real intentions and nature, at this moment in time, can only realistically be that each one of us will have to draw our own conclusions based on what little we know and - more interestingly - on what we assume or believe. Our conclusion may say more about us, and our society, than it might say about Myatt himself, and the fact we have to draw our own conclusions may be, as I myself believe, exactly what Myatt himself wishes, as some kind of test for us, and our honor. To quote an apposite verse from his translation of the Agamemnon by Aeschylus - which verse he has appended to several of his letters to me -
As to my own intent:
To those who know, there is a speaking;
To those who do not know, a concealment.

and Islam
(1) A limited number of photocopies, seven in total, of this typewritten manuscript were distributed by Thormynd Press in 1991 AD. (Note: Many Occultists - and others - believe Anton Long to be one of Myatt's many pseudonyms.) The term 'Mastery' refers to the Occult Grade Master of the Temple. This is an advanced stage of the Occult quest, the fifth of seven stages. The next stage is that of Grand Master.

In respect of Myatt's early years, while his pursuit of and
indulgence in violence - political and otherwise - is now widely known,
with him having served two terms of imprisonment for violence, his
sinister pursuit of and indulgence in minor criminal activities is not
at all well known, even though, during his ultra-violent years in Leeds
in the early 1970's, he was, according to one well-informed source,
"arrested after a raid by the Yorkshire Regional Crime Squad (later
to become part of the National
Crime Squad, which dealt with “serious and organized crime”)."
Myatt was charged in connection with offenses which, in America, come
under the term racketeering, having been the leader of a small criminal
gang. He was held on remand, in jail, and was later convicted of
various criminal offenses, and given a suspended jail sentence.
This incident - and these activities - are confirmed in Anton Long's autobiographical essay, Emanations of a Mage (unpublished MS, dated 118 Year of Fayen)

(16) Anton Long - Nythra: A Sinister Concerto in Three Brief Movements. This story, dated 114yf, is the first part of a "sinister trilogy" - the other parts are entitled Kthunae and Atazoth.
(17) In respect of Myatt's culpability, Myatt - using his radical Muslim persona of Abdul Aziz - has wriiitten many articles praising and explaining such things as martyrdom operations (suicide bombings) . One of these articles - Are Martyrdom Operations Lawful According to Quran and Sunnah? - was for a long time given a prominent position on the official web-site of Hamas, whose suicide attacks have killed hundreds of people. Thus, Myatt in this instance has aided a known terrorist organization. Myatt has also defended both the 9/11 and the London 7/7 attacks.
(18) There have been - in my view, rather
silly - rumors that the ONA, with its combination of Satanism,
National Socialism, and adoration of Adolf Hitler, influenced and
perhaps in some way inspired the two students who committed the
massacre at Columbine High in which fifteen people died. There is, in
fact, no evidence whatsoever to support such rumors. Yet, given
the many statements by the ONA about culling [human sacrifice] and
"presencing the dark" through evil deeds, some sort of proven ONA
influence or inspiration would come as no surprise. The massacre took
place on April 20 - Hitler's birthday - and many of the things the two
killers said and wrote are quite similar to the sentiments expressed by
some supporters and admirers of the ONA. "Killing enemies,
blowing up stuff, killing cops!! My wrath for January's incident will
be godlike. Not to mention our revenge..." (Dylan Klebold). Klebold and
Eric Harris had planned to detonate several bombs and kill hundreds of
people. They often talked of "evolving beyond other humans."
Myatt, however, is certainly known to have inspired the person responsible for killing three people - and the injuring of over a hundred, several seriously - in the London nail-bomb attacks, and one of Myatt's articles - advocating suicide attacks by Muslims - was, for many years, on the Izz al-Din al-Qassam section of the website of Hamas, whose members have killed hundreds of people in such "martyrdom operations".
(19) There has been some discussion, on the Internet and elsewhere, regarding the dates, and the authorship, of many articles and essays attributed to Myatt. As I mentioned in my Biographical Notes About David Myatt: "It has been suggested that the dates given on some of these missives and essays may be incorrect, or altered, as it has also been claimed that some of the articles with Myatt's name on them might be forgeries, and thus not written by Myatt, and were and are designed to discredit him. But it is also possible that this is The Master Trickster at work, again."
