Question I am a 1st year college student at the University of Virginia and I currently volunteer at the university hospital. I volunteer at the kidney center and one of my duties is to serve a beverage or a snack item to a patient if they request so. Since this is the holy month of Ramadhan and I am fasting, is it right for me to continue serving food and drink to the patients? Is it considered a crime against myself since I am surely tempting myself psychologically by serving the patients beverages and food items? I suppose this situation is mirrored for restaurant owners and similar individuals. Thank you for your time. ............................................................................ ..... ANSWER: It is not forbidden to serve food and drink while you are fasting. As for the temptation that is part of the discipline of fasting. Wasalaam, Mustafa
