Salam Alaikum

We would like to apologise for the following clarification. The original
question and answer regarding the rule of fasting for a travelling worker
according to Ayatullah Khumaini is posted for your reference. Dr. Takim
had requested the following clarification that has now been made by Shaykh
Hamid Mavani. I would like to thank Shaykh Hamid Mavani for this answer.

We ask Allah to forgive us for our mistakes.

                             Bismihi Ta'ala

Wa alaykum salaam,

The fatwa of the late Ayatullah Khumayni is conspicuously different than
the other marjas in defining what constitutes city boundaries and also
with respect to a person who travels regularly more than 8 farsakh to
his/her place of employment, the nature of which does not require
travelling. In the case of the latter, the person would be classified as a
musafir and thus would not be able to fast. So, Dr. Takim's response is
correct with respect to most of the marjas but not in the case of
Ayatullah Khumayni.

Wassalam,

Hamid Mavani
