	The reply to the following question on paying interest on credit 
cards was kinldy provided by Mulla Asghar.

QUESTION:

Please answer this as per ruling of Ayatulah Sitani.

Use of Credit Card is very common here and most of us use it now and then.
If the full amount is paid within the limited number of days after the
billing, normally 21, no interest is charged. If some one does not pay the
full amount then interest is charged. Are we allow to postpone paying in
time and pay interest on it?

ANSWER:

Ulama have allowed to pay interest only in certain situations where you are
compelled to do so. In the case described by you it is possible to avoid
paying interest by settling on time, so to postpone without genuine reason
is Haram.
