Salaams & Duas Ummulbanin Merali - Moderator - 'Aalim Network ****************************************************************************** QUESTION: Recently I feel as if the quality of my worship has decreased dramatically and I have picked up some very bad habits. I feel sorrow for my actions and I wish to repent. I have access to many du'a for repentance, and I plan to offer them, but I feel like I should do more. Can fasting be offered as a form of repentence? If should I make my niyyat to fasts for the porpuse of repenting to Allah , qurbatan lillah? Also do you have any other recommendations for actions I could take in order to repent for my action ? ANSWER: The feeling of remorse over the sins committed is in itself a form of Tawbah, In fact, repentance must be accompanied by a firm intention of not repeating the sins. Apart from this, there are many duas for Istighfar i.e. repentance. Even fasting can be one of the acts of repentance. I request you to do repentace for yourself and for all mu'mineen.
