Regards Abbas Jaffer Moderator - 'Aalim Network ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------- Question: According to Ayat Seestani, I did not find anywhere mentioned that a permanent marriage is valid with no one to witness it. (ie: no representatives, no Maulana etc) May I assume correctly that a marriage contract is not valid then if only done by the two people involved and there are no papers (religious, legal) to show the marriage did take place? Please reply as promptly as possible as this subject is a topic for a paper I am presenting. Thank you. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- Answer: Contrary to your conclusions, the fact that it is not mentioned that witnesses will be required means that witnesses are not required for the marriage to be correct.
