Traditional Haiku

Traditional Japanese Haiku poems are composed of three short lines.  There are usually five syllables in the first line, seven in the second, and five in the third.  Below are a few examples of our work.

Ladybugs flying
Black dots on red hemispheres
Peaceful, fluttery, and small

- -  Kevin and  Tamia

Kids wake up and eat
Children wait for the busses
Children do homework

--Melanie and Mary

Snow falls from the sky
Then we can't go anywhere
...except for outside

--Ashlynn and Breon

Hanging on the bush,
So beautiful red and orange,
On a silk tiny line.

--Jared and Latia

Something shining on
The sea , big , bright , and yellow
Very beautiful.

--Dinita and Robby

One  sunny   morning
I  walked  under  a  tree... and
On my head, a branch

--Shawnta and  Ronte’
