Web Page Creator I am a mature adult who is currently in my final semester in the Faculty of Educations Elementary Program (K-5) at the University of Regina. During my Pre-Internship, I had the privilege to teach in a Regina Separate School (St. Catherine K) and in a Regina Public Community School (Kitchener split Grade 1-2). I feel these educational experiences, in conjunction with my numerous classroom observations, assistance, and professional development seminars enhanced my professional development substantially. Essentially, they exposed me to a variety of teaching techniques, a medley of students, and an assortment of learning events that prepared me for my internship in the multi-aged/multi-grade environment of Gray School. While my educational background and practicum experiences have been in K-5 settings, I am also interested in teaching in middle years classrooms. On a personal note, I am married and have two wonderful children. Having a rigorous University schedule enhanced my ability to balance my time-spent learning and my responsibilities as a loving father and husband equally. I have also preserved time for my personal interests. These include: team sports, computers, the Internet, drama, art, writing, woodworking, gardening, and the Great Outdoors. Additionally, I feel that it is important to be an integral part of the community in which I live and work. Some of my communal services include: community fundraising, teaching Sunday School at Trinity Lutheran Church, judging pre-competitive and competitive gymnastics, and canvassing for the Canadian Diabetes Association and the Asthma Association of Canada. In closing, I would welcome the opportunity to meet with you to further expand upon the skills and experiences which are outlined in my resume. I look forward to hearing from you soon. Sincerely, S. Thomas Mamela TEACHING PHILOSOPHY I firmly believe that our classrooms, schools, and educational settings need to recognize the diversity that exists within our societal framework. Accordingly, educators need to build upon the strengths of a societys uniqueness and adopt a constructivist attitude. To facilitate this approach I need to be conscious of and provide for my students emotional, social, and physical needs, wants, and desires as individuals if I am to fulfill my many roles educator, mentor, coach, listener, and parent in absentia.
