The Church of England

How the Roman Catholic Church Views England

"It is yours, right reverend fathers, to subjugate and subdue, to bend and break the will of an imperial race... You have a great commission to fulfil, and great is the prive for which you strive... England is the head of Protestantism... Weakened in England, it is paralysed everywhere; conquered in England, it is conquered throughout the world;... this point reached, the whole world lies open to the church's will. England once restored to the faith [Roman Catholic], becomes the evangelist of the world."

- Cardinal Manning, citied in Protestantism Imperiled, page 49.

The Downfall of the Church of England

The Church of England is now taking the wine of Babylon.  The Pope presented a graven image in a cabinet to Dr. Runcie, head of the Church of England.  John Paul II is encouraging him into the transgression of the second commandment, which clearly states, "Thou shalt not bow down thy self to graven images".

If one follows the altered commandments in the Catholic Catechism they would seem to be excused from any guilt of practising this pagan rite. The second commandment found in the Bible was eliminated from the Catechism in about 375 A.D., to allow this pagan image worship to creep into the church.  It is, however, condemned in the Catholic Bible in Exodus 20.  This shows the obvious discrepancy between God's Law, which He said was unchangable (Psalms 111:7,8) and the useless and often contradictory traditions of the church fathers which Christ condemned in Matthew 15:3, 6, 9, 13.

Runcie is wilfully disobedient, for he knows that the 39 Articles of the Church of England, which he has sworn on oath to uphold and defend, are the biblically-based foundation of his church. The state:

"The Bishop of Rome hath no jurisdiction in this realm of England." -Article XXXVII

"And yet it is not lawful for the church to ordain anything that is contrary to God's Word  [graven images]..."  -Article XX.

These clear statements reveal the tremendous doctrinal slide the once blessed and great Church of England has taken; from the days when Englishmen across the nation tore down and burnt the graven images from virtually every church in England.  The forefathers of the Church of England all taught that the Pope was the 'Antichrist' and 'Man of Sin' mentioned in the Bible (II Thessalonians 2:3).  The following article was ratified by the English Parliament:

"The Pope of Rome is that Antichrist, that Man of Sin and Son of Perdition that exalteth himself."  -Westminister Divines, 1649.

Today England is being sold into the hands of Popery.

"The Pope would be the Universal Primate in a reunion of the Anglican and Roman Catholic Churches... and high ranking commission of both churches reported in London today."  -The Herald, Sydney, Australia, March 30, 1982.

Runcie then presented a painting of Saint Thomas A' Becket to the Pope.  You may well ask, "Why Saint Thomas and not Tyndale or Latimer, who were true Protestants of the Church of England, and martyrs for God and his Bible?".   The 'enlightened' realise that this symbolically shows the Church of England is being returned to the Papacy which she left 400 years ago. "Who was Thomas A' Becket?"   He was the 12th Century respresentative of Popery, who ignored the English King's secular power and heralded his allegiance to that foreign monarch on the Tiber (the Pope).  Addressing King Henry II of England he is quoted:

"I decline the jurisdiction of the King... and appeal to God and my Lord the Pope, by whom alone I am to be judged."    -Dowling's History of Popery, page 287.

He was killed as a traitor to the Kingdom of England, yet the Catholic Church see him as yet another martyr.  He covered the heinour crimes of a corrupt and licentious priesthood, who believed they were above the laws of the land.  As a result of their unpunished crimes the nation was in a state of unrest.  A'Becket and the priesthood could not have read the command from their acclaimed first pope, Peter, who stated, "Honour all men, Love the brotherhood, Fear God, Honour the King".  -I Peter 2:17.
