Hello my name is James Mann. I created this web site to maintain a presence on the web. In this and associated pages you can find out more about me, and about the various things that interest me. My other pages are a resume page, a card game, and my cake portfolio page. My resume page is a page that contains a reproduction of my resume rendered in html. If you are looking for someone to fill a position in your company than I urge you to spend a moment looking through my resume. The card game on my web site features one of my first efforts at java applet programming. I mainly did this for a class, but I decided to keep my work and include it with my web site. The rules are easy. The game is just a simple high/low card game. I have also made a page to display pictures of the cakes I decorate. Cake decorating is a new hobby of mine and if you would like to see examples of my work check out my cake page. I hope that you enjoy my site. Please feel free to contact me at jwmann.geo@yahoo.com.
About Me
Childhood
I was born in Mississippi. My father was in the air force so we moved shortly after I was born. We actually moved a lot so I will give you the quick run through: Mississippi 6 months, Nebraska 3 years, Germany 3 years, Alabama 6 months, Colorado 3 years, Texas 2 years, Iceland 2 years, Virginia 2 years, Italy 1 year. So as you can see I spent my childhood all over the place. I attended 11 schools in 4 different countries. This made my childhood interesting. I was able to see many incredible places and I was able to have many different experiences.

College
While my family was still living in Italy I started college at Simon's Rock College of Bard in Gt. Barrington, MA. I spent 2 incredible but often difficult years at SRC and earned an A.A. degree. I then transferred to Michigan Technological University in Houghton, MI. I finished my B.S. in biology at MTU in 2 years. College was an exciting time. I learned a lot about life over 4 years. Both of my colleges were beautiful scenic places. I met many wonderful people and still talk to and occasionally visit some of the friends I made in college.

Present
I have lived in Columbus, OH a long time now. I work at The Ohio State University as a Research Assistant in the Department of Plant Cell and Molecular Biology. The lab I work in is a Molecular Genetics Stock Center called the Arabidopsis Biological Resource Center.

Hobbies & Interests
Because of my childhood I really like to travel. Along with this I also enjoy taking pictures of the places I visit as you can see from the examples I have included on this page. I have recently visited Tennessee, Vermont, Florida, Michigan, Virginia, and Canada. I also enjoy skiing in the winter. One of my trips to Vermont was to go skiing and I also routinely get a season pass here in Ohio. I like to cook and I have started decorating cakes on a semi-professional basis. I enjoy various forms of entertainment: Movies, videogames, and music performances (classical and Rock). I like to swim and I used to play soccer but rarely get the opportunity now.
