Research Assistant, Arabidopsis Biological Resource Center at Ohio State University

Handle customer orders via online database, phone, fax, e-mail, or mail. Provide customers from all over the world with information about the center, the services offered, and with help in placing orders through TAIR. Manipulate and correct data in the local and online databases. Created portions of an informational web site (graphics, backgrounds, and a working rough draft). Maintain records on order histories. Invoice and process incoming payments. Coordinate orders with the other seed center in the United Kingdom. Responsible for preparation of Arabidopsis seeds and DNA for distribution. Work with Arabidopsis plants during all stages of their life cycle. Test seed stock distributions for germination problems. Scan Arabidopsis plants for visible mutations. Train new employees. Supervise and tasks employees working with me. Troubleshoot and repair growth chamber computers. Set up wireless network for barcoding system. Photograph plants using Nikon D100. Use Adobe Photoshop for image editing. Make specialized tools for seed work. Keep track of environmental data for lab, seed storage and greenhouse facilities and present this data using excel charts and spreadsheets
