Romantic Sketch #0

Why romance? Err... well, I suddenly felt an urge to draw a romantic scene and it hapeened to be around Valentine's Day, so why not? ^^; (though if you check the finish date, it was late for Valentine)

I was rather happy with the lines. I was finally able to draw my own bishounen without copying. Yay! :D The girl is not a typical bishoujo, but I think she looks good, too. She SHOULD look good as I used a reference for her :p
The shading was supposed to be simple, not a heavy pencil rendering. But then, well, I got carried away and added those cross-hatchings. Some are appropriate, for example those on the girl's hair. It enhances the atmosphere. Most of them, though, are ugly :p Those cross-hatches on the wall are unnecessary, I think. The rays was fun to make because I only needed to press my eraser against the paper, drag it quickly in a straight line, and I got a nice-looking ray of light :D Overall, this drawing was not bad, but I did not learn anything from it (other than the fact that drawing two people with physical interaction is much more difficult that drawing one person, but everyone knows this) either...
