(Stop) Violence

Making a humorous comic is a hard problem...
When you were brain storming, the plot feels funny.
When you start drawing, you realize some of the idea must be purged to make the comic fit nicely in one page.
When you are halfway drawing the details, the funniness starts to drift away.
When you are inking, you start to regret drawing the comic.
When you finish, you feel miserable as the comic doesn't feel funny at all.

That's what happened to me when I drew this. I drew this as Crap (which is how we call the humorous comic page) in my hostel monthly "magazine". The theme was Hall Bash. The bash was actually a gathering in a club. There were drinks, too...
So I thought of a drunken man in alley.
What could possibly happen to him to make the comic interesting? Well, what about an alley fight?
The problem is, I cannot turn this plot to attract laughter...

It happened that I tried "dark deco" style (the style used in Warner Bros' Batman the Animated Series) in this comic. Moreover, the rough sketch looked good! Surely I could not just throw this away?
In the end, I decided that this comic is too "violent". My hostel is in-campus after all... I coudn't have submitted this without fuss.
So, I drew another comic for the occasion and finished this one for my website.

Making up the fight sequence was hard. I wanted a detailed sequence like those in Dragon Ball (Z) manga. I think it turned out okay although I had to make it short for a one-page comic.

As I used low-quality paper, the grey area which I shaded with pencil were rippled. I had to correct the scan result because of this. Some frame lines may look strange... I'm not good in retouching.

Although I used dark deco style, the character design is way too anime-ish. I have to work on this.
