Sasayaki

Another entry for a Wish^3 fanart contest. It was the second (official) Wish^3 fanart contest, almost exactly one year after the first one. The latest chapter at that time was called Sasayaki, meaning "Whisper." I decided to draw my impression on the story in that chapter.
The little girl on top is named Mizuki; the (naked) blue person is named Ichirou, Mizuki's
elder brother. Ichirou is actually the main character's ancestor. (Basil, the main character,
can be seen on the lower-left corner of the picture.) In the story, Basil's family line was
"blessed" with one person who can make three wishes on certain generations. The catch was that
after being granted with three wishes, the person would lose his life.
In Sasayaki, Mizuki was dying after a landslide. Ichirou, as the one in the family
granted with three wishes (just like Basil), made the wish to cure her. Well, after some time
their fellow villagers could not help noticing the miracle, so they started to pressure
Ichirou to share his miracles with them. Ichirou's seemingly simple wish became his disastrous
downfall, adding Basil's doubt of what he should do with his last wish.
Whether or not I capture the essence of the chapter's story is subjective to everyone, I guess. But I personally was quite happy with this picture. The pencilling was not too bad and the experimental colouring on Basil's face (two light sources of different colour and brightness) was rather successful. The most painful part to colour was Mizuki's hair. Colour pencils are softer than lead pencils, so I used up a lot of black for her hair. Overall I was happy with this one even though I could probably have planned the lighting a little bit more carefully.
