THE CRITERIA
The site must be a personal webpage, or at least a non-commercial resource (collaborative projects are acceptable). The website will be judged on the following criteria:
Content The website must emphasize myths, legends, or folklore or must have a recognizable section devoted to such a topic. Sites that are just about fairies or dragon lore might be informative and entertaining but probably won't be suitable for this award, regardless of how outstanding the site might be.
Functionality An outstanding website will feature originality and creative design without sacrificing navigation and accessibility. Pages loaded with applets or animations, or which are too-graphic intensive, take an eternity to load and can be very frustrating to the average viewer. An award-winning site will manage to capture the imagination without cumbersome bells and whistles, and will be designed with the user's needs in mind. Broken images and links are very bad.
Aesthetics While this can be a matter of personal taste, most of us can tell the difference between a garden and a landfill. Award-winning sites reflect continuity of design and attention to detail, and have a flair that sets them apart from the average site. You may not be able to define it, but you know it when you see it.
If you know of a personal, non-commercial website that you believe would be a good candidate for the Solar Wheel Award, please send in your nomination by e-mailing Sabranna@hotmail.com with the COMPLETE URL, the website owner's email address and your comments (reference: Solar Wheel). The site will be reviewed usually within a week.
