Presidents Corner
On behalf of the Executive Committee and the members it gives me great pleasure to greet you all. I was recently elected as the President of the Broome / Tioga NAACP. I accepted this responsibility with humility. In this fast-paced and changing society, I recognize that our Chapter faces challenges and issues unresolved from the past, and also newer promises and problems unique to the future. As a Social Worker and Educator, I hope to address problems in our schools and seek fairness within our justice system for all our people. I strongly believe that there is a lack of communication between segments of our counties, and I want to encourage our members to share their views with others. Only through " bridging the walls " which separate us can we hope to acknowledge our differences and illuminate understanding. Respect and justice will follow when our Chapter becomes more vocal and directed. To paraphrase the statesman, Benjamin Disraeli,...we may not know what direction or actions we must take, however, we must take some action - because some action is better than no action. We will continue to " fight the good fight " and the Chapter will change and benefit our members.
