Here it is March and testing month! Fourth and Sixth grade tests are the week of March 12. Tests for grades 1, 2, 3, and 5 are the week of March 19. Please try to make sure students have a good nights rest and a healthy breakfast so they can do their best!
What is an assurance? Middletown City School district has developed a list of assurances for each grade level. Assurances are goals that must be taught at the various levels in order for students to be prepared for the proficiency tests. Committees of teachers met to match the proficiency test goals to those being taught at each grade level. Hopefully with this list of assurances being taught at each level, students will be better prepared for the fourth and sixth grade tests. Our continuum, which is used for our individual student goals, is also matched to the assurances. The quarterly goals set for our students are the skills needed for success on the proficiency tests. Central Academy staff is constantly striving to find new ways to help students become successful learners.
The State Report Card is out. You should have received one in the mail, if not we have some here at school. When looking at the scores, please remember each year’s scores reflect a different set of students. In order to compare the same group of students, look at the 4th grade scores from 1998 and the 6th grade scores from 2000. In all areas of the 1999 - 2000 scores, Central scored well above the district average. We met the state required 75% passage in writing at the 4th and 6th grade levels. We continue to strive for the 75% in all other areas.
