Jhaeman's Library
Hi, I'm Jeremy Patrick, a Ph.D. student at Osgoode Hall Law School in Toronto, Ontario. Originally from the U.S., I have law degrees from the University of Nebraska (J.D.) and the University of Toronto (LL.M.) and spent 2006-2007 teaching at the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law. I've written articles and essays (generally on topics like religion, politics, and law) for newspapers such as the Globe and Mail and the Calgary Herald, and magazines such as The Humanist and Free Inquiry. My scholarship has appeared in places like the Journal of Law and Religion, the Canadian Journal of Criminology and Criminal Justice, and the Alberta Law Review.
I recently ran for the Board of Directors of the Canadian Civil Liberties Association on a reform platform. Here is a Lawyer's Weekly article on the election. In addition, I've just published a law review article on Canadian civil liberties groups.
If you'd like to read any of my columns, essays, or law review articles, head to my Published Writings Page
I recently started blogging--check out Jhaeman's Detritus.
This site will eventually contain all of my published nonfiction writing--and for fun, writings on some of my favorite hobbies--comic books and Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Lawyers are often geeky, but we're not always stuffy . . .
While you're here, please browse America's preeminent civil rights organization at The American Civil Liberties Union Homepage. There you will find information on what they do to keep us free. I clerked for ACLU Nebraska for a year and a half and never regretted one minute of it. Of course, don't miss out on the The Canadian Civil Liberties Association
.
As anyone who knows me knows, I'm something of a Buffy fanatic. I've written an unpublished Buffy novel titled "Hell Frozen Over," and am in the process of writing reviews of the all the published novels. If you're interested, go to my Buffy page.
I've been collecting comics for years. Here's a few thoughts I have on the hobby, including my Comics That Time Forgot columns. Visit Jhaeman's Comics Page
