My Family

I have a fairly "typical family", until you get down to the specifics. Five people- one more than the "perfect number." Maybe someone should've told my parents before Steph was born;) Just kidding. Here goes the normal aspect, as much as I can say without getting in trouble;)

Both my parents were born in Vancouver, British Columbia, but that's where the similarities end. My dad grew up in a Christian home, was saved at the age of 13 and got a job immediately after finishing high school. He's a welder, dealing with heavy machinery, at LeeMar. My mom lived in Germany for a few years in her early childhood, and then her family moved back to Vancouver. Mom was saved at the age of 15, during a series of meetings with Harold Paisley. She was going to become a teacher, but ended up getting married. Mom and Dad moved to Vancouver Island in 1979, primarily to raise us.

My parents had three children, and if the fact that two of us are redheads indicates anything, we were a bit of a handful. My brother, Michael, is the oldest, at age 24. I'm next at 22, and Steph comes in last at 19. Both my brother and I were saved at the age of 15 (two years apart, obviously). Since then, we've both been baptized and joined fellowship with a local assembly meeting at the Lathom Road Gospel Hall in Port Alberni. What keeps us occupied? Well, Michael's just finished his degree at Malaspina University-College, with a major in Computer Science, and minor in English. He's currently working at an MSN help center in Nanaimo. Michael's engaged to Patricia Little, with a wedding date set for August 27, 2005. Stephanie is just finishing her Early Childhood Education and Care Diploma at Malaspina. She's about to start a month-long practicum at Whistler (we'll see if she takes up skiing and/or snowboarding).

As for me, on May 1, 2004, I married John Hammersmark. For wedding details, visit our website. We're currently living in Burnaby, BC, and are part of the assembly meeting at Fairview Gospel Hall. I'm working at Colliers International doing American accounts payable, and John works in Coquitlam manufacturing cultured stone (aka, making fake rock). John and I are expecting our first child this June (or early July).

Well, there you have it. If anyone's got this far, bravo for lasting so long:)
