Once not so many years ago in a not so far away kingdom a new King had been chosen by right of arms. Now this king was, as all kings should be, a just and humorous leader. Being such a just king, he delayed his own departure from his coronation to assist the members of his kingdom in the cleaning and packing of the various paraphernalia needed to feed his loyal subjects. Seeing many members of his Kingdom struggling to pack the magic folding tables and place them in a cart for transport, he proceeded to grasp one of the heavy tables in but a single hand and carry it forth from the hall. Many of his subjects vainly attempted to follow suite but soon had to give it up for naught.During the removal of the furnishings a lord in the corner of the hall was trying to remove a staff from it's base but was having some great difficulty since it was well and truly stuck. After a few moments of pulling as hard as he could, he requested the aide of other gentles to assist in pulling said pole free. So gathered round 4 gentles of some remarkable strength all, pulling with all the power they had, but yet the staff would not come free. His Majesty seeing his subjects struggle in vain to free the staff, decided it needed but the royal touch. Placing the hands that had won him his crown, around the staff he pulled... As if the very touch of the royal hand was all that was needed the pole came free. While his subjects had pulled and strained and could not budge the staff at all, his majesty had seemingly no trouble at all.
Someone remarked how it was like a story from long past, when another king had removed a sword from a stone. That King had gone on the rule wisely and justly. How could Gareth truly do otherwise having proved himself the rightful king by removing the Staff in the Stand.
