David Skipper, a
storyteller and actor for more than 15 years performs
first-person dramatizations of literary figures in period costume. As a
literary
scholar Skipper begins with a dramatic monologue in character
incorporating
anecdotes about the author's life, literary influences and the creative
writing
process while weaving excerpts of the writer's works into the program.
Then he
takes questions and answers them as the actual author would have. During
the
final minutes of the program, Skipper steps out of character and addresses
questions from the audience as a literary scholar.

"He performed his aspects of Poe's
life, as well as "The Tell Tale Heart".
The students were captivated. I invite CEH speakers to present on a
regular basis.
David is the best presenter among them. Furthermore, Mr. Skipper took the
time out
of his day to demonstrate public speaking skills to my fundamentals of speech
class."

"It was a wonderful program,
well-researched and beautifully performed.
The audience...loved the question periods at the end and he was equal even
to those put to him by a retired professor of American Literature!"
