Millennium Man's
Photos Page

Welcome to our photos page.
Each week we will feature our
Photo of the Week
on our
opening page.

Our world is, first and foremost,
a visual plane through which we see ourselves,
our fellow man in all his common splendor,
and our hopes and dreams.

We are indeed fortunate to have grown up with
a fantastic tool to record life as it happens,
whether comical, tragic, or simply interesting
-- the camera.

Millennium Man is opening this page to share
some of his images and photos with you.
We will archive these as we go from week to week
(or until we find a different motif that works better).
So feel free to send them to us.
You can do that by following the instructions
at the bottom of this page.

This page is brand new and will be under constant construction
as a work in process.
Help out as much as you can.
Your entries are welcome.

Photos of the Week

There's nothing more peaceful than a day at the zoo, summer evening light, and a 300mm telephoto lens. That's all it took for Sam Lowry to "bag" this critter.

After 1200 miles of winter driving, we ended up in Santa Rosa, NM. Balmy and quiet. Just what we needed. The sunset was an extra kick.

Mary Ann took this giant Saguarro back in the winter of 99. She then discovered formatting and the result is a digital masterpiece of color.

Ah, a sunset, a sailboat, and a peaceful sea. Such a romantic moment.

Could you see any more pink flamingos in San Diego? We thought the light at the end of this day was great.

We met Hermann Gurfinkel back in '99, when he was 82 years old. We fell in love with his story as well as his art. This is only a small piece. Photo from Sam Lowry.

We found this sculpture at the San Diego zoo one morning. It's a beautiful piece tucked way back in the children's zoo.

Sonia is a frequent donor of art sources, poetry, and other neat links. With this photo, "Air Apparent", she reveals her keen eye for the unique images that permeate our everyday lives. This was our first Photo of the Week (dated 9/1/2K).

Sam Lowry has been a silent contributor of stories, ideas, and images over the past year. His "Marcha de los Muertos" is one of those subtle images taken in his native San Diego.

Okay this one is one of my own. This shot was taken near the finish of the Rock'n'Roll marathon, at the naval base in San Diego. The contrasting curves and angles depicted a ballet of lines.

This image from Sam Lowry was shot in San Diego's Balboa Park. It is an actual guillotine from a traveling display of medieval and not so medieval torture devices.

Okay, so I was in this church in San Diego's Old Town district. These candles were silent, peaceful, and displayed a warm color.

Leave it to Sonia to find a UFO in the heart of San Diego. This is an actual building designed in the early 60s. She found it on a walk in one of the obscure canyons of Uptown.

This shot of an early sunrise in Virginia was taken hours before the Farm Aid concert in 1999. It was one fine morning.

This picture was one of our entries in the Parade Magazine "Our Animal Friends" contest. It didn't win but we thought it was a fit tribute to our subject, the late Lord Chumley.

Old friend, Sam Lowry snapped this shot of a common subject, "The Circle of Friends" candle. An eery closeup that we liked.

This little sculpture by Dan Hill sits in a small park on San Diego bay harbor. A peaceful little place.

We are continuously criticizing television and it's lack of quality. This shot of a busted TV on Laurel street says it all.

In keeping with our anti-TV theme, we found this billboard on a light pole in busy North Park, hardly noticed by the passersby.

Winter light and long shadows on an evening bike ride make up this colorful shot by Sonia.

Millennium Man caught smoking a Cuban cigar in Mexico near the Motel Sonia. This shot was taken by Jill Layton. And no, we didn't stay here. It was all good for a smile.

Sonia captured this "fan" keeping cool at the Old Town Mex Restaurant in San Diego. "Watering Hole"

Mary Ann found a construction site that caught her eye. What does it mean? "Kungstruction"

This shot was taken on a rainy day after a mellow night of tequilas and cigars. I call it "Rainy Day Pulque"

"Vinyard of the Dead" was taken on a recent bicycle outing in the Anza-Borrego desert. This abandoned vinyard was immense and the whole effect was eerily akin to something that could have come from the scriptures. "Biblical", Sonia said.

Sonia del Sol sent us a series of self portraits taken with this mirror in various locales. We thought it fun, original, and mysterious. Here's just one sample.

Mary Ann found a perfect landscape for this shot of the Pacific, from the cliffs of Del Mar. It's hard to see where the sea ends and the sky begins.
