What is Toastmasters? Toastmasters International is the leading movement devoted to making effective oral communication a worldwide reality. Through its member clubs, Toastmasters International helps men and women learn the arts of speaking, listening, and thinking. There are over 8,000 clubs around the world.

Who are we? City Hall Connaught Toastmasters is a member club of Toastmasters International . Originally called Connaught Toastmasters, our club was formed in 1980 by a group of City of Vancouver employees who wanted to improve their public speaking skills. Today, the club is composed of both City employees and people from the private sector.

What happens at the club meetings? We have fun! There are one or two prepared speakers followed by one or two speech evaluators, impromptu speaking which we refer to as Tabletopics, these are then evaluated, and finally a General Evaluator who evaluates the whole meeting. Then we have a brief business meeting. All speeches and evaluations are given by club members.

How do I join? Anyone can join. Come as a guest to see what we're about. If you like what you see, simply fill out an application form. There is a one time registration fee of $23 plus club fees of $53.50 every six months.
