I've been fighting the coaches for two years
about locking the door to the gym
it's where the pool is and open
if I knew the president, I'd talk to him
but instead I left nasty notes
to the dean of the athletic members school
"advise these coaches to lock the door"
a child could get in and drown in the pool.
The provost got upset
because the coaches got mad
the boss called bitching
so what? too damn bad!
You know, what does it take
to get people to see
security is crucial
and not just by me
it takes everyone
doing their own part
not relying on someone else
for the goodness of their heart
Does a child have to drown
or a building burn down
or someone fall and break a bone
before the door gets locked
or the light comes on
before you can hear the fire alarm
instead of a buzzing tone?
Does someone have to be killed
for everyone to be afraid
and think about their own security
and the environment that is made?
Money of the big college
spent on grass and Bell Towers
and the president makes $111 thousand
for what little activity he powers
but there are five different alarm companies
and janitors working to their demise
there is dark, but no fear
politics put on paper seem wise
but the doors don't work
and equipment gets stolen
and my life is in danger
like cancer of the colon
the teachers are idiots, oblivious
windows left open for anyone to come in
it's not their computer, tv/vcr
if they had to pay for it, then
watch how tight the place would be
and they wouldn't have the need for me
and you know, I can honestly say
that would damn sure be okay!
