For The Death Of Doves

To the crow, the dove is the opposite
the crow loud and destructive, black
the dove, white and pure, alone or paired
silent cooing,
crows attack
flocking in masses, squawking
pronounced flights of disarray
perched on roof ledges and light poles, gawking
better run like hell if you choose to slay...

to kill a crow for its spirit
would not be an entire sin
yet behind any evil, there is a truth
and darkness slain would put knowledge to end

so as one is war, the other, peace
as one is hate, the other, love
you could tend the greater advantage
to ignore the efforts to spare the dove.
