Harbors
Within a dark and dismal sea,
searching out stability-
light flashes now and then,
still, I stay here, within.
Restless, cold, almost drowning,
fog rolls over whitecaps crowning,
all harbors seem miles away,
farther from me than yesterday.
But tonight I took a chance
on a light that seemed to dance
and found a place beyond my fear
where a laugh replaced a tear,
where a feeling of wonderful warm
cascaded where there was a storm,
where I found rest and serenity
away from the dark, dismal sea.
A harbor for which I need not beseech,
all the while, within my reach,
strong and awaiting my arrival
to offer support for my survival,
a pillar that will stand until the end,
a comfort, a harbor, my very dear friend.
