Rest of Yesterday

The laws of reasoning
tend to leave you perplexed
you can't contain the future
holding the past in unflexed
arms with hands lacking passions
and fingers that can't unbutton
the curtains for the sun
gentle, not ripping as a glutton.

You're only between you
and your ambitions
squint your eyes
and see this I say
to capture tomorrow, it's a must
to let go of the rest of yesterday.
