The Seasons of my Heart
(for a dying friend)
Come and be with me, my precious friend
in this little time we have to spend
enjoying the things the seasons send
until such a time that our time does end.
Come and go with me in Spring
sitting by the lake, we'll sing
spending hours frolicking
being happy with the life we bring.
In summer, come and run with me
through the sun, down to the sea
we'll talk and laugh so carelessly
and absorb the sunset with cups of tea.
Come and dance with me in fall
through the leaves, then we'll crawl
while watching the stars, we will recall
some old boyfriend or a favorite doll.
In winter, come and sit with me here
by the fire's warmth, we will not fear
or acknowledge that the end is near
and shall flurries across the horizon appear
When shadows pass and whispers cease
and life's canvas is stripped of its glorious art-
brilliant rainbows will brighten my canvas of peace...
as you'll remain there coloring
the seasons of my heart.
