because I couldn't see
your way of seeing me
life as you choose to see
to be the best for me

you just knew the way
for certain you thought me blind
and why I didn't see your way
living around society so kind
this is not the happy I find
money, status
having it ever when
...and the point is then?
just what I need to get by
money's not the issue
you'll say it's everything
and that's a lie.

One can live on what you make
quite fine in much luxury and stuck out
like a societal thumbtack
but happy? I would doubt.

You were good at science and math
I, at creativity, editing, and justice
the law is my edge on life
I see we can no longer trust this.

You lead not well, but manage great
your mind is a technological field
but the creative folks see more in life
a happiness
that "the bottom line" can't yield.
