Fragments Of My Time

Thinking of love and those who gave
and took and chased and caught
and tossed aside and threw away
this is a lesson taught

well

they were fragments of my time
mere moments in a stream of forever
a trail of stardust in my universe
once then, but now, never.

Not ever have I seen a whole
nor have I ever felt a half
with a cold air on my heels
I scale the mountain and laugh

birds only reach my knees
and I slip on stones as I climb
casting them to heart's bottom
as they skip off my mind
never glancing down, if blind,
to these fragments of my time.
