Move Away Your Eyes

move away your eyes from me
take them off so you won't see
me hook on to a cloud in the sky
not being able to wave goodbye

move away your eyes from me
I know you don't want to see
the actual leaving after all this time
I wish for now that I was blind

I can't stand the way you look sadly
knowing I want to stay so badly
not being able to remove my gaze
as long as yours attaches and stays

you remind me of a bassett hound
move away your eyes and be unbound
you stare at me, even through the crowd
and this may just be my last cloud

just one diversion to catch your sight
another's eyes that flicker in light
and it'd be bright enough I pray
to keep you looking long enough away

so you wouldn't feel like a child who lost his grip
and let his colorful balloon slip
watching sadly, goodbye as he cries
as it fades off into the skies

thinking he should,
wishing he could
move away his eyes.
