To In From Open
In open fields of wildflowers
she breathes the air and flies away
someday she'll understand it's okay to love
it doesn't always hurt to stay.
In open skies of rainbows
she curses the dark and goes
into the sunlight of heaven
someday she'll forget her woes.
He says she never loved him
but she loved with all her heart
young and complicated though
he tore her in pieces apart.
Too full of her and the displeasure
of her swinging on the trapeze
it's what she had to do, she knew
she needed freedom, never to be on her knees.
In open lands of greens and blues
someday she'll remember who she is down inside
when she's away from the open
after the numb, forcing her to decide.
