If my words can touch you
when you read what's in my head
if you can feel my emotions in you
if you can relate to things I've said

if I've captured your attention
to take a little place in your mind
fill a tiny space in your heart
if depth and beauty is what you find

if you can see me in my stories
and know the sadness in my night
if you can see my happiness and understand
in the end, we're going to be alright

if I can stir a passion inside you
if I can make you laugh and cry
if I can make you think of life and God
and realize it's not so bad to die

if I can ease the pain at all
if I can extend to be a friend
if I can show that I comprehend
if you open your home and let me in

if I can bring you more in touch with you
if I can inspire faith and set you free
if my words can touch you
then it's reason enough for me.
