My Little Woman, Listen

My little woman, daughter, friend,
I wish you could see life's not so bad,
the days are too short to go around mad,
your face, too pretty to wear that sad.

My little woman, princess, angel,
your voice, like music, fills the air,
your mind is too great not to care,
your heart is big with much to share.

My little woman, blue sky, sunshine,
I could tell you the mistakes I made,
of all the times I've been afraid,
the consequences sooner or later paid...

I could tell you where I went wrong,
of the things I'd change if I could,
things I didn't do that I knew I should,
but most things you make bad you can't make good...

I could tell you the things I've said and done
that I wouldn't have if I could do it again
because I did lose many-a-friend
for things I tore and could not mend.

Life never should have been so bad,
I wish I'd had parents to steer me,
with this poem, I bring you near me,
my little woman, I pray you hear me.
