Proud To Be...

indentThe second time was when I was in Europe. I was about ten years old. We were staying at my
aunt and uncle's place in a small town in Germany. On that day, we decided to go shopping
in the big city. I was with my mom and aunt, bored out of my mind, in a six or seven floor
mall when my aunt left to go to another department. I said I'd stay with my mom, but then
changed my mind. Telling my mom that I was going with my aunt, I ran after her.
I never caught up. My mom thought I was with my aunt and my aunt thought I was with my mom
and I was somewhere on floor five. So I did what every little kid is supposed to do. I went
to a cashier lady and, in my limited German, told her I was lost. They lady called my mom on
the intercom and I was put in the lost and found room. Problem was, neither my mom or my
aunt heard the announcement. My German wasn't good, I didn't know the address or the
name of the town where my aunt and uncle lived and I didn't know their last name. So, guess
what I did. I prayed. And when I was done praying, I remembered something that was said in the car
on the way to the mall. I remembered the adults saying something about a bakery stand. So, I
got up, asked the lady of the lost and found room where the nearest bakery stand was, and
left the building. I saw my uncle before I saw the bakery stand he was standing by. I walked up to him all calm
as if nothing had happened. Real cool. My aunt came, then my mom, and they both figured I
had been with the other the whole time. No questions asked. I eventually told what happened
because I was smiling so much on the way home that they all knew something was up. I wonder
if somewhere in Germany, some lady still remembers a little foreign boy who got lost, and when
no one came to claim him, he got hungry and left for a bakery stand and never returned.
indentThat day, or maybe later when I had the time to think it
over, I realized that not only is God still active in his creation, but he also cared about
the little foreign boy lost in Germany. People were probably dying all over the world, maybe
even a small war going on, or an epidemic of some sort, but God also helped me when
I asked.
