This dank and gloomy spot is the notorious harbor of Whitby where Dracula grounded the deserted Russian freighter Demeter with only himself and a dead helmsman, lashed to the wheel with an expression of terror on his face, aboard. A large black wolf was seen to leap from the ship before any humankind ventured aboard. This is a circa 1880's stereoview by an unknown photographer entitled simply, "Whitby." |
